I’m normally an advocate for fighting the good fight against the tyranny of pants, but every once in a while a truce needs to be made because of cute billowy tops from Disneyland that just look better with… well… pants. My disdain for pants is kind of funny though because for the longest time I refused to wear dresses, skirts, and even shorts. I’d wear a dress for special occasions, but it was always begrudgingly. I was all about pants. Pants. Pants. Pants! Specifically bootcut or flared pants — not like JNCO flared though. Good grief! I still don’t understand how those were ever in style nor their quizzical comeback this year. I just feel a lot better when I’m wearing a pretty dress or skirt. They’re much more freeing than pants, and with dresses I can just throw a cardigan and belt on and call it a day. When I wear pants I feel like my thighs are completely on display which is just no bueno. Like every other human being, I’m insecure about parts of my body — my thighs being one of them. But they’re slimming down, slowly but surely. I think my calves are looking rather fantastic thanks to kickboxing though!
For this outfit, I went all out with my Snow White gear. I remember seeing this striped tank featuring art by Michelle Romo when I went to Disneyland back in January, and my responsible decision to not buy it haunted me for months! But now it’s mine!!! Thank goodness I had enough Disney Dream Dollars on my rewards card to buy it when I went to Disneyland a few weeks ago. I paired it with my Evil Queen locket necklace from the Walt Disney Family Museum, poison apple brooch from Poison of Choice, and my black tote with some Snow White flair on it. I actually haven’t had a chance to wear these black wedges out yet besides for these outfit pictures (I was originally wearing red ballet flats). But look at them! Aren’t they super fancy and fierce? They’re not the type of style I would usually be drawn to, but I tried them on for funsies and they just made me feel so badass. Sometimes when I see them on my shoe rack I giggle a little bit because I bought them on a particular trip to TJMaxx that was intended to be for baby shower present purposes. I left TJMaxx that day with just the shoes… whoops. >_<
I hope all you ponies have a great Sunday! Game of Thrones is back on tonight!!! And another episode of Mad Men! AHH! So much good TV is happening today! ALL THE EXCLAMATION POINTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A friend of mine once asked how many Funko Pop! vinyl figures I own, and I had to stop and think about it for a good 2 minutes. I lost track of all the figures I own, but I know it’s well over 20! With so many choices, how am I supposed to narrow down my top 5 favorite for this week’s 5 Fandom Friday?! I tried my best to not list all my Disney ones to make the list more diverse, but alas. A good majority of my collection are Disney characters (because I’m the biggest Disnerd, duh!).
1. Baymax
My Baymax figure is the biggest figure I own! My friend Jen got him for me for Christmas (he was originally supposed to be my birthday present) and she was super anxious to give it to me because she knew I would most likely buy it for myself. And I nearly did buy him! I put him on hold at Barnes & Noble, and then she had to keep telling me NOT to buy him. It took me a minute to figure out why. Haha!
2. Snow White
Snow White is my favorite princess, and one of the first Disney Pops I ever purchased (my very first Pop! figure would be Batman). I went pretty crazy when they came out the first Disney series — I got Maleficent, Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and Sulley along with Snow White. But Snow’s the fairest Pop! of them all! I found a set with 3 mini Disney princess figures that had a lil’ Snow White, so now I have two. 😀
3. Mary Poppins
I fangirl’d sooo hard when I saw a preview of the Mary Poppins figure a few years ago. I mean, look at her! She’s practically perfect in every way. 😉 Whoever designed her just completely nailed every little detail from her hat to her umbrella. Perfection!
4. Robb Stark & Grey Wind
Okay, this is technically two, but I’m counting them as one because I feel that I can’t have one without the other. I got Robb at SDCC, and was on a mad hunt to find his dire wolf, Grey Wind. I didn’t know that Grey Wind was a 7-11 exclusive though (I could’ve sworn I saw him at Barnes & Noble when I still worked there), so he proved to be quite a challenge to acquire for a price below $50. I eventually found him at Stockton-Con, and he is the most priciest Pop! vinyl I own (I haggled and got him for $30). I DID IT FOR YOU, ROBB.
5. Loki
I’m sooo happy that Funko came out with another Loki figure with the pointy helmet! I wasn’t really crazy about the one sans helmet, and the first Loki figure they came out with is way too ‘spensive online, and his helmet wasn’t even gold. This one is just fantastic!
What are some of your favorite Pop! vinyls? Have you lost count of your collection like me? Lemme know in the comments!

♥ Grimm’s original fairytales (the super dark, creepy ones) have been translated into English for the very first time! Watch the book trailer.
♥ Neil Gaiman talks about fairytales, his latest story “The Sleeper & the Spindle” (which seems to be a Sleeping Beauty/Snow White mash-up), and how every fairytale is “a loaded gun.”
♥ Would You Rather?: Hot Guys vs. Food. Honestly, I’m appalled that being served cookie butter on a silver platter beat out an intimate camping trip with Tom Hiddleston. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE? Don’t you know Tom would bring the cookie butter on the trip because he knows you love it??? Because he is perfect!!!
When my sister and I went to Disneyland for a second round a couple weeks ago, I decided to do a little Snow White Disneybound since I packed this outfit (the dress was actually in an outfit post last year). It’s not a completely obvious bound, or maybe it’s more of an “inspired-by” outfit… but whatever. I like it! I borrowed my sister’s red bow headband (which she got for her Hipster Snow White costume last year), and brought my little Snow White Tsum Tsum (pictured below). Isn’t she darling?! I had been searching high and low for these damn little Tsum Tsums since they were released during the summer, and my mom surprised me with this cute Snow White one. Fun fact: She had no idea Snow White was my favorite. She just picked her on a whim. I started off with a medium sized Minnie that I got back in August, and then I got Daisy a few days after my mom gave me Snow White — after my trip I added 8 more Tsum Tsums to my collection, and I still want more!
In case you’re scratching your head and wondering what the hell a Tsum Tsum is, let me tell you! They’re these SUPER KAWAII stackable plushies that were first released in Japan (go figure, Japan is like the capital of all things adorable), and they come in three sizes: large, medium, and mini. And of course, there’s also a really fun and addicting Tsum Tsum game that you can download on your iPhone/iPad or Android by Line!
I’ve seen that some of my Instagram buddies are playing/collecting Tsum Tsums too! What about you ponies? Have you started a tiny army of adorbleness too?
Cheers,
Nina
PS: I feel like my Snow White game is on point in this selfie I took the day after my Disneyland trip…

A few days ago on Instagram I found out that it’s National Snow White Week! For someone who claims that Snow White is their favorite princess, I feel like I should’ve already known that that was a thing. Oh well. I’ll be more prepared for next year!
Usually when people find fashion inspiration from the fair princess, they pull from her classic red-blue-yellow combo that Disney made so iconic and synonymous with Snow White. For this outfit, I started with my rose gold Snow White locket that I got from the Walt Disney Family Museum to guide me for a different color palette. With it’s green gems, I thought incorporating pink would be perfect because green and pink is one of the best color combinations (in my opinion, anyway because it reminds me of flowers!). Plus I’ve seen other iterations of Snow White where she wears pink, so why not? I dug through my closet and found this white dress with a pink floral print that I got from Target ages ago and paired them with my old forest green cardigan and hot pink Bass saddle shoes. I found the shoes at the Bass outlet earlier this year and I had to have them! Anyway, for the rest of my accessories I threw in a faux pearl pink bracelet and a pink chunky fox ring to represent the forest animals that she befriends.
It may not be so blatantly obvious that this outfit was inspired by Snow White, but I’m quite happy with the subtlety 🙂
Who’s your favorite Disney princess or Disney leading lady? Let me know in the comments!
Cheers,
Nina

Halloween is just around the corner! Can you believe it? I bloody well cannot. I mean… how are we even in the midst of October already? Where did September go?! Anyhow, I never really have set plans for Halloween every year, but I like having a costume ready to wear anyway because who knows? Something just may pop up! So for this edition of 5 Fandom Friday, I’m sharing the top 5 characters I’d like to dress up as for Halloween!
1. Mabel Pines
I’m actually going to be dressing up as Mabel this year and I’m super excited!!! I found a cute little pig costume at TJ Maxx for Rory last month and took that as a sign. After all, what’s Waddles without Mabel? I already have a couple of pullovers that I can Mable-fy, but I’m still uncertain of which route to go. That girl’s novelty sweater game is seriously on point.
2. Snow White
Snow White is my favorite Disney princess, so of course I’d love to dress up as her for Halloween! In second grade I asked for a Snow White costume from the Disney catalog and got to wear it at school for our Halloween parade. I thought it was the greatest thing EVER! The only thing was I was super tan from playing outside a lot, so I looked more like Dirt Brown than Snow White, y’know? I’m pretty pasty these days, so I think I can pull it off now.
3. Mary Poppins
I considered dressing up like a modern day May Poppins with my blue blazer and black skater skirt, plus this white frilly top I wore with my TARDIS costume last year. But then the Mabel thing happened, so I’ll have to put a pin on the Mary idea until another Halloween. Or convention. Who knows?! And I honestly didn’t want to deal with scouring thrift stores for the perfect carpet bag or black straw hat. #lazy
4. Camilla
Dressing up like Camilla the chicken (Gonzo’s lady love from The Muppets) seems like a random choice, I know! I came up with the idea when I was still with my ex because he had some black and white shoes that totally screamed Gonzo. So I thought it would be stupid adorable if I dressed up like Camilla and he Gonzo, except I didn’t want to go out and wear a bulky chicken costume. Hell no! I had an idea to make a dress with a bunch of feathers and make it look all flapper girl-ish. Though I may be Gonzo-less, I still don’t see why I can’t one day put this Camilla costume into fruition.
5. Lumpy Space Princess
Like, oh my glob y’all! Lumpy Space Princess is hands down my favorite character on Adventure Time. She may be full of herself, and obnoxious, but I can’t help but love her. One day I’d like to find a pouffy purple prom dress and make a flashy gold star to put on my forehead and call it a day. A co-worker of mine is planning on being a “trashy” version of LSP complete with red talons, red lipstick, and a can of beans. I’m sure it’ll be epic!
Do any of you have any idea who you’re dressing up as on Halloween yet?
Hey my little ponies! I’ve been absent from le blog for a bit because…
Both of my jobs are keeping me busy. Way too busy, in my opinion. But hey, mama needs $$$
Number 1 has kept me away from doing outfit shoots. 😦
In my spare time I’ve been working on new necklaces for my Etsy store, which has been rebranded as Le Fancy Geek Boutique! 🙂
For those that follow me on Instagram, you already knew about #3 as I’ve been posting photos of my latest creations every so often. I’m really excited with the way they’re turning out! I promise they don’t look all blurry like they do in the picture above though. I still need to tweak with the other designs I came up with. My 11th Doctor and Rory images printed out too dark and the Stormtrooper’s head needs to be reduced in size since the glass magnifies the image a bit. <— that sounds like gibberish. o,0
And there are still some other non-bezel pieces that I need to work on before I open up shop again. I have some little Lego looking Doctor Who toys that I’m going to be making necklaces out of just in time for the 50th anniversary!
Do you see any of your favorite characters in there?
Today’s Wishful Wednesdays post is filled with items that remind me of my childhood!
As you may know, I’m crazy for anything that has a floral print! Roses aren’t necessarily my most favorite flower, but my family’s house has always had a hot pink rose bush by the front door, so roses often remind me of home and Beauty & the Beast, naturally. And the shape of the bag may look familiar to you kitties — it’s LeSportsac’s Heather Hobo in their “Royal Rose” print, just like the one I’m giving away in this post! I felt my eyes widen in awe when I first saw this print debut a few months ago and I’ve been lusting after pretty much any of the bags they have in that print ever since.
One of my favorite ice cream flavors as a kid was Neapolitan because it had the best of 3 worlds: chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry all in one! I first saw these adorable chocolate and strawberry wayfarers by Rivet & Sway on Diana’s blog Our City Lights about a year ago. One can never have too many glasses (Tim would totally disagree), so I hope to add these to my collection someday 🙂
This dress from ModCloth is called “Looking to Tomorrow” which is a clear nod to one of my favorite gingers, the lovable orphan Annie! I remember my Auntie Nelly bought the VHS (totally dating myself) for my sister and I and we watched it sooooo many times. Part of the reason why I love this dress is because if I were to wear it around it would be like a secret cosplay. All I need is a gold heart shaped locket from Tiffany’s and I’m good to go… except that sh!t is expensive so I’ll settle for something secondhand or faux vintage.
And this installment of Wishful Wednesdays wouldn’t be complete without any Disney items! The illustration of Snow White on this iPhone case is so pretty, and a perfect way wave my Disnerd flag all day, err’day. She was also one of my favorite princesses as a kid because she has black hair, and I have black hair (oh, vanity). The little can-can dancer doll is from Disney’s Animators Collection of Small World dolls. I’m stupid and didn’t pre-order it and now it’s sold out online. SACRE BLEAU! I went to the Disney Store in Modesto yesterday and asked about them and the Cast Member told me that they haven’t heard anything about getting a shipment in. *le sigh* I want the french doll in particular because the can-can dancers were my favorite part of the ride when I was little. I loved them so much that my answer to the age old question “What do you want to be when you grow up?” was “a can-can dancer.” So the doll is basically a physical form of my childhood dreams and I WANT IT. Did I also mention that she sings “It’s a Small World” in French?
Rounding up my wish list are a pair of classic saddle shoes by Bass. I had a pink and white pair when I was in pre-school, and I recall passing by Stride Rite all the time and I kept saying how much I wanted the “50s shoes.” One day Auntie Nelly and my grandparents took me to get a pair, but they didn’t have black and white ones anymore so they brought the pink and white pair out for me. Unfortunately they were too tight, but I got them anyway — I started real young on the whole these-shoes-hurt-my-feet-but-they’re-so-cute-I’m-gonna-get-them-anyway trend that’s so popular among women. I insisted that they didn’t hurt because I did not want to leave without them! I’d like to think that I’m a bit wiser these days and only get shoes that semi-hurt if I know they’re going to be okay once I break them in (does that even make sense?).

Hello kitties! I didn’t realize it’s been well over a week since my last blog post. Whoops! The the blog negligence is unintentional — as I’ve mentioned before, posts may be sparse as I’m balancing out two parttime jobs, but I’ve been finding myself getting reaquainted with a pastime that I feel I have been neglecting for far too long: reading.
I love reading and despite the fact that I’m a reading tutor, I’ve been having difficulty focusing on the written word as a recreational act and I find that rather bothersome. To ease back into it, I binge read volumes 15-18 of Fables, a graphic novel series I got into 3 or 4 years ago. Of course it’s easy to breeze through a graphic novel in an hour or two, but it still counts as reading! And if you haven’t heard of Fables, you MUST look into it if you’re into fairytales, folklore, mythology, and Once Upon a Time. It’s about a group of characters from all walks of literature, particularly fairytales and folklore, who seek refuge in New York City and build their own community called Fabeltown after a force known as the Adversary exiles them from their homeland. READ IT. IT’S AWESOME.
And I just finished reading Neil Gaiman’s latest novel The Ocean at the End of the Lane. It is absolutely beautiful and magical and dark and just simply amazing! I don’t want to get too into though since I feel like it’d be more appropriate to blog abou it after I go to his singing in Santa Rosa next Saturday. That’s right. I’MMA MEET MR. NEIL GAIMAN!!!! ERMERGERD. ERMERGERD. /fangirling
Shall I talk about my outfit though, since this is a personal style blog? Okay, cool. After putting it together I realized it paid a teeny tiny nod to Fables with my Snow White necklace (one of my favorite characters in the series), my beloved Kate Spade typewriter bag with the little Arpakasso keychain, and my red cowboy boots. There’s a particular extension of Fabletown known as The Farm where all the furry fairytale characters live and at one point in the series a scribe comes to investigate. I won’t say much more about that because you need to read it!
Next up on the reading list might be Stardust by Neil Gaiman. I don’t think I’m quite ready to leave the world of science fiction and fantasy just yet. What’s on your reading list this summer?
Hey all! Kristin at My Life as a Teacup tagged me to answer 11 questions a loooooong time ago, so since I actually have time to sit and breathe I thought now would be the perfect time to FINALLY answer her questions 🙂
Kristin’s Questions:
1. If you were given a one-way plane ticket, where would you go?:
I want to say Paris just because… y’know it’s Paris AND they have a super fancy Disneyland there, but I think I’d want a one-way ticket to Portland, OR. I haven’t been there since I was in diapers, but soooooo many people have told me that I’d totally love it there and from what I’ve heard I think I would. 🙂
2. What’s the first thing you do once you wake up in the morning?: I check my emails and Instagram feed on my phone. x__x
3. If you could go back to live in any time period or era, which would you choose?:
I’m totally content with living in the 21st century with all our advanced technologies and plumbing systems and the fact that most of the population are tolerant towards interracial relationships (people would be looking at me funny in the 60s with my white beau, can you imagine?!). But if I could travel back via the TARDIS I’d love the visit the late 70s/early 80s and watch a Queen concert. Freddie Mercury FOREVER! I’d also love to see The Police ❤
4. Who’s your literary character crush? I liked Edward Cullen for a minute, but then I realized he’s a super creepy possessive stalker douchebag that would be terrible at spooning on account of the fact that his body is supposed to be as hard as marble. Seriously WTF, Bella? I had a bit of a thing for Robert Langdon from Angels and Demons and The Da Vinci Code since I pictured him as an Indiana Jones type, but then Tom Hanks kind of ruined it for me. Sorry, Hanx. I love you! You are my favorite actor, but you just weren’t what I pictured for my dreamy professor! But as far as fictional characters in the realm of TV and movies go, I love me some Ned the Pie Maker from Pushing Daisies. He’s adorable, sweet, and he can bake pies for you. What. Is. Up.
5. What is one challenge that initially terrified you, but you persevered through to overcome?
I landed my very first retail gig about a month ago, and for the sake of anonymity and not getting in trouble with the company I won’t say what store I work at, but the thought of being a cashier has ALWAYS freaked me out. By now I’ve been at the register so many times and I’m pretty used to it. There are moments where I have brain farts with counting change and then I feel terrible about it, but it’s really not as horrible as I thought it would be. Plus some customers have told me I’m a good salesperson, so YAY!
6. Tell me a story about the most cherished of your senses (a particular memory tied to the scent of baking gingerbread, a sound that strikes fear into your heart, be creative!)
I don’t think I have an exact memory of a certain sense, but I do find the smell of chlorine quite pleasant. It can be an obnoxious scent at times, but it reminds me of all the times I spent swimming in the pool as a kid and it also reminds me of Disneyland! It’s just a scent that I connect with good times from days gone by.
7. What is one movie/show/book/video game that you’re looking forward to seeing/reading/playing in 2013? Doctor Who‘s 50th anniversary special!!! I can’t wait to see how Rose Tyler and the 10th Doctor will be incorporated. David Tennant was a fantastic Doctor, so it’s definitely going to be a treat for all Whovians to see him don his striped suit and white Chucks once more 🙂
8. Favorite pancake flavor? (I’m partial to blueberry!) I’m more of a waffle person, they’re like pancakes but with more depth (literally!). Belgian waffles with strawberries and whipped cream has been a tried and true favorite since I was a kid!
9. What is the last book you read?
I honestly can’t even remember — possibly An Abundance of Katherines or The Catcher in the Rye (which was eons ago a.k.a. sometime last year). I’ve started a few books, but have yet to pick them back up. My mind keeps wandering whenever I attempt to read. I don’t know why it’s so hard for me to focus now, and I REALLY hate it! Perhaps I should look into audiobooks…?
10. Who would you choose to play you in a movie of your life?
I don’t know what actress looks like me. My friend Shanice said she’d cast Lindsay Price to play me in a movie. But maybe America Ferrera? The make-up people would have to do her eye makeup to make her look Asian though. And Tom Hiddleston would play my boyfriend because my boyfriend quasi resembles him. 😀
11. If you had to choose a single word to serve as a focus or goal for 2013, which would it be?
“Forward,” because I need to keep moving in that direction.
My questions:
Who is your favorite Disney princess and why? We all have one, so don’t dare say you don’t!
What song must you play at full blast and sing along to in the car?
What’s your poison? (I stick to water for the most part, but I do love me some Root Beer)
What’s your favorite kind of dessert?
If Ben & Jerry made a namesake ice cream for you like 30 Rock‘s Liz Lemon, what ingredients would you want them to include in it?
If you knew you were dying tomorrow what would be your last meal? (I’m so hungry, can you tell by my questions?)
What is your most prized possession?
What are you currently obsessed with? (movie, tv show, book, music etc)
What movie can you recite word for word (or at least 85% of)?
Are there any fashion trends you fell victim to that you immensely regret? (I rocked a vinyl mini backpack and short sleeve velvet turtlenecks, but it was the 90s and I was 10 so I guess it’s okay…?)
Say we’re living in the realm of Harry Potter and you are a witch — what would your patronus be and why? If you’re not into Harry Potter (but seriously, why wouldn’t you be?!) what/who would your spirit animal be and why?
