You’ve Got Red on You: A Loot Wear Review

Last month’s “Horror” themed Loot Wear subscriptions came with terrifyingly cool swag, and the debut of a brand new subscription geared towards men: undies! Here’s a breakdown of what each subscription came with:

  • Wearable: Alien
  • Loot Tees: Shaun of the Dead
  • Loot for Her: Edward Scissorhands Raglan
  • Socks: The Nightmare Before Christmas & The Walking Dead
  • Undies: The Walking Dead

I tossed my Alien wearable and Walking Dead socks in my laundry basket since I forgot to take pictures of each before wearing them. Whoops! However, you can get a better view of them in my unpacking video (at the very top of this post). I did style both the Loot Tee and the Loot For Her tops, so you can take a looksie at my Loot Wear ensembles and also my thoughts on them and the Nightmare Before Christmas socks and Walking Dead undies. 😀

Loot Tee:

I’m not one for scary things, but Shaun of the Dead is one of my favorite movies! When I found out there was going to be a Shaun of the Dead t-shirt for October’s Loot Wear subscription, I totally fangirled 😀 While I was a pretty disappointed I was sent a unisex shirt instead of the women’s size like last time, I still really dig the tee. I love how it incorporates Shaun and Ed’s respective weapons for the zombie outbreak, and also the subtle vinyl record.

Loot For Her:

This raglan’s material feels so much softer and cozier than the Princess Bride or Archer ones they released previously for the wearble subscription. Unfortunately they sent me a size M when I’m a XL/XXL, but it still fit me! It definitley would’ve been a lot more comfortable had it been my proper size. Another thing I like about the raglan is the design. You can’t really tell in my outfit picture since my boobs warp the design a little (#BigBoobieProblems), but Edward’s hands are shaped like a heart. That along with the quote from the movie is cute and heartbreaking all at once!

Like I mentioned before, I forgot to take a picture of my Walking Dead socks before wearing them, so they’re not pictured here. However, I will say that I love them! Every time there’s a Walking Dead item, I always say that I’m not into that franchise, but damn if Loot Wear doesn’t always come out with cool wearbles and accessories for them! The maroon socks feature whit silhouettes of weapons that I’m assuming the characters of the show use to fight against the walkers (is that what the zombies are called in that show?), including Lucille, Neegan’s barbed wire baseball bat. <– I only know that because everyone and their mother have posted stuff about him since the latest season premiered. Also Jeffrey Dean Morgan is the kind of fine you don’t spell correctly: fiioooone!

EDIT: OMG. I was so busy thinking about how fiooone Jeffrey Dean Morgan is, I forgot to talk about how much I loved the Oogie Boogie and Jack Skellington socks that the socks subscription came with! I love the design on the socks with Oogie Boogie hovering over and unbeknownst looking Jack. The design also has a bit of a black light poster feel to them. And how cute is Jack holding that heart?! I thought the was “Horror,” not Kawaii Macabre!

As you can see in my unpacking video, I was pretty surprised to see Loot Wear also included these Walking Dead chonies for dudes. They’re boxer briefs and the material is really nice and soft. I tried them on over my opaque nylons and you know what? They’re actually perfect to wear underneath skirts or dresses to help keep your nylons in place! I told my friend about them and they said, “You can stick stuff in the slot too!” And I was like da fuq are you guys talking about? Then it dawned on me and I thought, 1. there isn’t a slot for that, and 2. WHY WOULD I STICK THINGS IN THERE? That’s what a bra is for!

I am extremely excited for the month of October’s Loot Wear items because the theme is “Magical” and will have items from Harry Potter, Doctor Strange, Kingdom Hearts, and Adventure Time!!! Here’s a breakdown of what franchises will be featured for each subscription:

  • Socks: Harry Potter and Doctor Strange
  • Wearable: Harry Potter
  • Loot For Her: Kingdom Hearts (it’s supposed to be a knitted item)
  • Loot Tee: Doctor Strange
  • Undies: Adventure Time

5 Fandom Friday: Favorite Halloween Flicks

Halloween is next week! In order to get ready for it, today’s installment of 5 Fandom Friday are my top 5 favorite Halloween movies, or movies on my “must-see” list for the spooky holiday. I’m not a fan of scary movies with suspense and gore, and all that super-duper macabre fanfare that is associated with Halloween. I mean, I like my fair share of macabre, but my wee heart can only take so much. This is the girl who finds Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs incredibly terrifying if that is any indication on how easily I scare.

1. Shaun of the Dead

I remember being very hesitant about watching Shaun of the Dead because… well, ZOMBIES. But I was told that it was absolutely hilarious and not scary, so I gave it a go and now it’s one of my favorite movies EVER. It’s so brilliantly funny with the right amount of gore. It’s about a deadbeat named Shaun who just gets dumped by his girlfriend, and after a night of drinking his sorrows away, the town he lives in has suddenly undergone a zombie apocalypse. While battling a hangover, he tries to win the girl back, reconcile with his mother (who is married to a man he can’t stand, but is actually quite nice), all the while trying to save them and his best friend from getting infected. Good times!

2. Hocus Pocus

This one is an absolute no-brainer, am I right?! It’s been a good while since I’ve seen this movie (total blasphemy, I know), but it’s a classic from my childhood. It also taught all kids another term for boobs: yahbos. Thanks, Thora Birch! Plus who doesn’t love a movie about witches coming back to life because a virgin lit a candle and then all hell breaks loose? Oh, and there’s a talking black cat AND a living dead guy. And singing!

3. ParaNorman

I’ve only seen ParaNorman once, but I feel that it deserves a spot on my list because it seems so under appreciated. It was nominated for Best Animated film at the Academy Awards, but lost to Brave (which I love), but think it could’ve definitely gone to ParaNorman or Wreck it Ralph instead. Anyway, ParaNorman is about a kid who can see and communicate with the dead, and no one believes him. He feels extremely isolated from his family and peers as any young prepubescent boy with super natural abilities would. But his odd ability goes up a notch when he sees a vision of his town’s past and being pursued as witch by the townspeople. I do believe that it’s on Netflix, so if you haven’t seen it you should watch it!

4. The Nightmare Before Christmas

No Halloween movie list is complete without The Nightmare Before Christmas — or any Christmas movie list for that matter because it doubles for both holidays! I just love it. The songs, the characters (Oogie Boogie is sassy as f*ck) — just the overall look and feel of the movie! I remember I was in first grade when it came out and I thought I wasn’t going to like it because it looked “weird.” Now I’m all about weird. 🙂

5. The Craft

This is the only movie on my list that’s rated R. Ooooh! I don’t know why, but I loved this movie as a kid. I feel like I watched it ALL. THE. TIME. And I really had no business watching it because I was 10 when it came out, but I thought witches were cool. The Craft is basically like Clueless with witches. The movie poster even says, “It’s Carrie meets Clueless!”

Honorable Mentions:

  • Coraline
  • The Addams Family Values
  • The Witches
  • Donnie Darko

What are your favorite movies to watch around Halloween, my little ponies?
