Le Fancy Geek Boutique Scavenger Hunt @ Disneyland

IMG_5192

Hey my little ponies! So it looks like I fell off the face of the earth again — oops. I’m actually in Anaheim right now because I’m heading to Disneyland’s 24 hour event to kick off their Diamond Celebration tomorrow! Or technically, I’m lining up later tonight.

I’m not entirely sure how I will survive this, but I’m going to be scattering some Disney/Marvel themed necklaces from Le Fancy Geek Boutique around the park for anyone to take home!

Designs include:

  • Steve Rogers (Captain America)
  • Thor
  • Mary Poppins
  • Indiana Jones
  • Elsa
  • Baymax

If you’re going to be there too, be sure to follow me on Instagram at @lefancygeek to get updates on where you can find each one! 😀

cheers

Take Offs and Landings

I feel like I fell off the face of the earth as far as my blog is concerned. My bad! I’ve been working on a few new designs and products for Le Fancy Geek Boutique (Star Wars stuff to be exact!), hence my absence. I’ve been so busy that I totally forgot to make a special post for yesterday, which happened to be Le Fancy Geek’s four year anniversary! Can you believe it? It really doesn’t seem like it was that long ago that I started this little thing, but alas! To put into perspective of how old this blog is, people who were freshmen in high school when I started my blog are now seniors and are getting ready to graduate very soon. O__O

Be sure to stay tuned for a giveaway to celebrate 4 years of blogging in a few days!!!

Besides planning things for Le Fancy Geek Boutique, I’ve been busy making some travel plans as well. I’m going to Hawaii in September for my cousin’s wedding, and there’s talks of visiting Disney’s Aulani resort while we’re there! And next month I’m heading to Disneyland for their 24 hour event, and I’ve also been training for the Captain America 10k in November! I guess what I’ve really been doing is just prepping for a whole lot of Disney magic. Haha! That’s really nothing new though.

Anyhow, awhile ago I blogged about how Pinup Girl Clothing teamed up with Mary Blair’s estate for a limited collection of dresses and skirts, and I got one!!! I actually got a notification about it while shooting the Snow White outfit I posted a couple weeks ago. I had to tell Caitlin, who’s been my photographer for the last two outfit posts (thanks, Caitlin!), to hold on a minute and proceeded to order the dress from my phone. The Mary Blair collection was much anticipated by many, and I didn’t want to risk having it be sold out before I got a chance to order it! Pinup Girl Clothing is pretty pricey, but their dresses are really investment pieces for your wardrobe because they are so well made, and flattering to boot! This is now my third dress from them. 😀

Yesterday was also Pinup Girl Clothing’s Pinup Parade at the Park event (think Dapper Day, but fancy pinup ladies all over the park instead). Since I couldn’t make it, I wore this dress out while grocery shopping. 😀

I hope Monday treated you well, and don’t forget to check back on Wednesday Sunday for the blogaversary giveaway!

::EDIT:: Sorry for the delay in the posting the giveaway. Life happened, but things aren’t crazy anymore so the giveaway will be happening on Sunday instead. Thanks for your patience and understanding!

cheers

Hey ponies! I just wanted to let you know that “Le Fancy Bloops” have just been added to Le Fancy Geek Boutique. You might be wondering what the ever loving frickity-frak are “Le Fancy Bloops”? They’re pendants that didn’t turn out as great as it could have, but despite their little imperfections, they’re still totally wearable. And at $8 a piece, they’re a steal!

You can find them here.

New items will be posted tomorrow for Small Business Saturday!

Use code HOLIDAY14 from now until December 1st to get 15% off your order of $12+

Happy Shopping!

Pie Day + Sale!

pie dress/Pushing Daisies necklace/Bass oxfords/Kate Spade purse/cardigan

As you may know the square root of π = 3.14, making the 14th of March Pie Day! Or Pi Day. I prefer the former because it involves the kind of pie you can eat and not numbers.

I’m an English major. You do the math.

For some reason the square root of π is one of the only things I remember from my high school math class. The F.O.I.L. method? Couldn’t tell ya, I don’t remember what the hell that thing is. But pi? 3.14 is the square root and that’s all I know. Anyhow, I put together a little outfit that I thought would be super appropriate to celebrate the day in. I mean, can that dress by ModCloth be anymore perfect? Nope. It can’t. And I also added my Ned the Pie Maker necklace from my Etsy store, Le Fancy Geek Boutique, to the ensemble because… well, pie. Duh.

And speaking Le Fancy Geek Boutique, there’s a great sale going on right now!

From now until Sunday, you can save $3.14 on your order (see what I did there?)! Just use the code “PIEDAY14” when you checkout. 😀

thor necklace_

Thor has absolutely nothing to do with pies, but you can pick up this necklace along with Ned the Pie Maker and many other designs during the sale 😀

Hope you ponies have a spectacular Pie Day!

Cheers,
Nina

Strike Two

The mini holiday con that took place on Sunday didn’t go as well as I hoped it would — I didn’t sell anything. Not even ONE piece. I have to admit, I was a bit hesitant about doing the show because it coincided with a women’s basketball game rather than just being an event on its own like it was last year. And I wasn’t sure if it was publicized well enough (it wasn’t). Plus sports and nerdy things don’t exactly go hand-in-hand. I’m almost certain that if it was a quidditch match, the turn-out would’ve been a lot better. The circumstances for the event left other vendors quite dry as well, so I at least know that I’m not the only one.

But still, I went into it being hopeful. That’s all you can really be when you put yourself out there: hopeful. So I’ll keep looking at other venues to further expose myself and my geeky baubles and hopefully find success somewhere. Until then, there’s always the internet!

Take a look at my Etsy store to see if there might be any pieces you’d like to get for the geek(s) in your life this holiday season. 🙂

Cheers,
Nina
