The Hall of Faces: Game of Thrones Exhibit

A couple of years ago I got to go to the offsite exhibit that Game of Thrones (GoT) put together for SDCC and it was so cool! They had tons of costumes from the show, a virtual reality simulator that made it feel like you were going up the Wall, a photo op to make it look like you were taking a picture with Drogon, and also one where you get to sit on the Iron Throne. They even had tattoo artists on hand for the first fifty people in line to get a free and super legit GoT tattoo! And everyone also got free t-shirts. I ended up not going last year, but I marked it as one of the top things I wanted to do at SDCC this year. It was really… underwhelming.

My sister, her fiance, and I waited three hours in line to get into the exhibit and all they had were three costumes (Arya, the Waif, and Jaqen,) photo ops with Arya’s sword Needle, the Iron Throne, two display cases of merch being sold at HBO.com, some sort of crown that shows people Arya wants to kill through Melisandre’s flames, and the Hall of Faces from the Temple of Black and White where you could get your own mug added, along with a souvenir print of the picture you took.

If you take a look at my blog post from the first exhibit I went to, you can see that it was pretty damn exciting.

Before getting thoroughly disappointed, I was super pumped to go because I’ve been fangirling over GoT a lot lately. And my crush on Pedro Pascal (Prince Oberyn Martell) has randomly flourished by tenfold, so I packed this Oberyn inspired outfit specifically for when I went to the GoT exhibit. I got it last year from Gold Bubble Clothing, and knew I had to have it when I saw pictures of it in one of their sneak peek posts on Instagram.

Oberyn was such a cool character — he was passionate, charismatic, full of swagger, and sexy as f*ck. How could I not be attracted to him?! I remember when his character was first introduced I was like, “Ooooh, I like him… he’s totally gonna die.” 😦 #RIPMySweetBB

Five Fandom Friday: Geeky Clothing Items I Need in My Closet Immediately

Screen-Shot-2014-09-25-at-7.48.24-AM

Megan of The Nerdy Girlie and Kristin of Super Space Chick started a really great series called Fandom Friday where they, and other geeky bloggers, list 5 things they’re geeky for. This Friday’s theme is fashion! I love all the fandoms I’m part of (derp) and I always draw fashion inspiration from all of them, so this feels like a good day to jump on the 5 Fandom Friday wagon 🙂

Pumpkin Coach Sweater by Cakeworthy x Disneybound

I love how Cakeworthy took the old Coach logo and put a Disney twist on it with Cinderella’s pumpkin carriage. And the subtle touches they did with what year it was established (1950, as in the the year Cinderella was released) and that they’re form “A land far, far away” is just so clever.

The Hiddleston bow by Dulce Calaveritas

Tom Hiddleston counts as a fandom, right? Duh, of course he does! So I totally feel justified in putting this adorable hair bow by Dulce Calaveritas on this list! As you can see it features Mr. Hiddleston’s handsome mug all over it. If you check out her shop, she also has a Benedict Cumberbatch bow and tons of other fun designs!

Doctor Who “Goodbye Raggedy Man” tank by Her Universe

The 11th Doctor holds a special place in my heart and I think this tank by Her Universe is such a fun a piece with it’s water color doodle print. I remember seeing it on Doctor Who’s Facebook page after the last day of San Diego Comic-Con and was sooo bummed that I didn’t get to buy it while I was there. If I made time to walk by the BBC America booth I would’ve gotten it in a heartbeat! At least I know it’s there on the internet when I have the monies to finally buy it! I think it would look so cute with an eggplant cardigan, skinny jeans, and some boots. 🙂

Star Wars x Vans Shoes

I’ve been drooling over these Journeys exclusive Star Wars shoes by Vans since they came out during the summer. They’re my favorite of the ones that have been released… I think that may be because Han Solo’s on them though. But let’s be honest: he’s the sh!t and super dreamy!

Sherlock “Bored” A-line Dress by Gold Bubble

This skater dress features Sherlock’s wallpaper complete with the spray painted happy face. How could I not add this onto my list of geeky clothing items I need?! I actually got to see this dress in person on none other than Victoria Schmidt a.k.a. Scruffy Rebel at Stockton-Con back in August and it’s too… what do the Brits say? Brilliant! It’s too bloody brilliant! The attention to detail on it is great because it has this faint blue line that goes throughout it just like the wallpaper on BBC’s Sherlock.

What’s on your geeky clothing wish list?

Cheers,
Nina
