Hey my little ponies! I received the latest subscriptions from Loot Wear (formerly known as Level Up) a few days ago and did a little unpacking video for it. Check it out to see what’s inside along with my honest reaction of the items 🙂
Here’s a list of what came with each subscription:
Socks:
– Mega Man
– Rick & Morty
Wearable:
– Futurama hooded t-shirt
T-shirt:
– Voltron
Loot for Her:
– Bioshock tank top
I created a couple outfits from the fun threads that came with this package, including the Futurama hooded tee and the Bioshock tank top! I would’ve done a third outfit for the Voltron t-shirt, but it’s not the right size 😥
Outfit #1: “All in all, it’s a fine day for an apocalypse.”
With the current state of the US and the fact that I actually wore leggings as pants in public (LE GASP), the end of the world must be nigh! Leggings as pants has always been one of those fashion faux pas that make me cringe if it’s not done nicely. Like, if you’re gonna do it I feel like you should wear a top that covers your bum and crotch because no one wants to see the outline of your nether regions. Am I right? You know I am! The Futurama hoodie tee has a tunic-like feel to it, so my bum was nice and covered! I would’ve tucked it into a cute skater skirt, but I didn’t see one in my closet that I thought would look good with it. And I couldn’t find my black jeggings (hey, they look like denim!), so I had to resort to regular ‘ol leggings. I threw on my denim vest and sparkly bracelets so I wouldn’t be covered in all black. And you can’t really tell, but I purposely wore my dark purple flats with this outfit as a subtle nod to Leela’s hair. 🙂
Admittedly, this is one of my least polished outfits, but I threw it together when my two besties invited me out for pizza right when I changed into my pajamas and didn’t feel like going out at all. I nearly turned down free pizza, you guys. Who does that?! #EndOfTheWorldIsNigh
Outfit #2: Not Cthulhu
If you watched my unpacking video for this month’s subscriptions, you would’ve seen that I had no idea what fandom this tank’s design belonged to. The robot looked a little familiar, but I was totally lost. For a hot second I thought it looked kinda like Cthulhu. But alas, it’s from Bioshock Infinite! The only things I know about Bioshock Infinite is that it’s a video game that has a steampunk feel, a pretty lady character that tons of women cosplay at cons, a birdcage, and robots. I’ve seen pictures from the game and I think it looks really cool, but I am too uncoordinated and anxious to play first shooter games. I’ll just stick with Duck Hunt, thank you very much.
I really like the tank top though — it has nice a graphic on it! I paired it with a brass feather necklace to make a reference to the birdcage. I used to frown upon wearing things from fandoms I’m not into, but Loot Wear makes it hard to stick to my guns when they come out with cute stuff that has absolutely nothing to do with my geek interests. 😛
Overall thoughts on July’s subscription items? Pretty good despite the fact that Futurama is the only thing that I’m actually a fan of, and the Voltron shirt not being the right size. 😦
Next month’s theme is “Anti-Heroes” and I’m pretty excited for it because the Loot for Her subscription is going to have something Harley Quinn related! I’m hoping for some sort of tote bag or jewelry piece. The sock subscription will have the Punisher and Suicide Squad, the t-shirt will be World of Warcraft (I played WoW for three months and all I did was pick herbs and make outfits), and the wearable item will be from Archer… another show I keep putting on hold!
