A Wish List For My Birthday

birthday wish list 2015

R2-D2 suitcase // Keiko Bonlook glasses
The Little Prince pullover // Duffy Bear purse // Totoro dress
Hansel & Gretel by Neil Gaiman //Seconds by Bryan Lee O’Malley

Hey my little ponies! My birthday is on everyone’s least favorite day of the week: Monday. But I have the day off, so it won’t be so dreadful (at least I hope it won’t)! A few of my friends and I are going to dress up and head to San Francisco to have tea at a cute little tea shop to celebrate. I’m super excited!

I threw this little wish list together for funsies, I’m not expecting to get any of these things from my friends or family. In fact, I’m probably going to buy myself that Totoro dress by Her Universe if it’s still in stock at Hot Topic when my Hot Cash becomes active. Hopefully they’ll still have my size in stock! I’ve been waiting for this dress to come out ever since I saw pictures of it at Her Universe’s fashion show at San Diego Comic-Con. 🙂

What’s on your wish list?

cheers

Take this quiz to find out what your Star Wars job would be. Apparently I’d be a smuggler, and the description is actually quite accurate!

In case you’re wondering what the description for smuggler is:

Life is… complicated, yes? So far it’s been one big scramble to find out who you are and where you’re going – let alone who will take the journey with you. People like you need a niche, a position of belonging and purpose. People like you also happen to possess an unmatched amount of charisma and wit – which becomes invaluable in a galaxy rife with unrest and gray politics. Smuggling may not be the most glamorous (or legal) of jobs, but it suits you to a T. And it pays. Boy, does it pay. Just keep your friends close, your enemies closer – and your blaster closest of all and you’ll be just fine.

Cheers,
Nina

The Funday Post

Salutations, my little ponies! I had an idea to start a weekly post featuring links to things I find amusing, fun, and adorable on the web. Thus, The Funday Post! This’ll occur every Sunday, hence the wordplay. Oh, and don’t be surprised if a bunch of quizzes from Buzzfeed (or anything from Buzzfeed for that matter), Play Buzz, and whatnot show up each week because I basically live for those things. I hope you all enjoy!

♥ I still can’t get over Benjamin McKenzie’s and Neil Patrick Harris’ family’s Halloween costumes. Perfection!

♥One of my favorite bloggers, Diana of Our City Lights, was interviewed by the BBC about her love of Hello Kitty!

♥ Amy Poehler’s Reddit AMA is filled with nuggets of gold.

Doge Weather is the best way to look up what the weather’s like in you neck of the woods.

Literary Starbucks = best Tumblr page EVER! Each post is written in the style of a famous author and how they would order a beverage from the infamous coffee joint.

♥ This quiz to see if you know all the words to “A Whole New World” sparked some controversy in the comments because of one specific lyric. That being said, I got 20/20 correct. 🙂

♥ My sister had me watch the Fung Bros’ “18 Types of Asian Girls” video and nearly died from laughter! Some of them were just so spot on. I identified with 6 out of the 18 types: Good Asian Girl, Geek Asian Girl (some of the things with that one weren’t as spot on for me, but still), White Washed Asian Girl (alt/indie rocker), Hipster Asian Girl, Forever Single Asian Girl (I really need to lower my standards, but single life is what I’m about at the moment), and Foodie Asian Girl (you’ve seen my Instagram account, right?).

Which Badass TV Lady Are You? quiz. My result was Leslie Knope from Parks & Recreation. I identify more with Liz Lemon, but I love Leslie and she shares my love for Harry Potter, ponies, and waffles, so I’m content.

National Snow White Week

A few days ago on Instagram I found out that it’s National Snow White Week! For someone who claims that Snow White is their favorite princess, I feel like I should’ve already known that that was a thing. Oh well. I’ll be more prepared for next year!

Usually when people find fashion inspiration from the fair princess, they pull from her classic red-blue-yellow combo that Disney made so iconic and synonymous with Snow White. For this outfit, I started with my rose gold Snow White locket that I got from the Walt Disney Family Museum to guide me for a different color palette. With it’s green gems, I thought incorporating pink would be perfect because green and pink is one of the best color combinations (in my opinion, anyway because it reminds me of flowers!). Plus I’ve seen other iterations of Snow White where she wears pink, so why not? I dug through my closet and found this white dress with a pink floral print that I got from Target ages ago and paired them with my old forest green cardigan and hot pink Bass saddle shoes. I found the shoes at the Bass outlet earlier this year and I had to have them! Anyway, for the rest of my accessories I threw in a faux pearl pink bracelet and a pink chunky fox ring to represent the forest animals that she befriends.

It may not be so blatantly obvious that this outfit was inspired by Snow White, but I’m quite happy with the subtlety  🙂

Who’s your favorite Disney princess or Disney leading lady? Let me know in the comments!

Cheers,
Nina

Minnie Mouse x LeSportsac Giveaway!

{ GIVEAWAY NOW CLOSED. Thank you to everyone who entered! }

Hey my little ponies!

I’m all kinds of excited to announce this month’s giveaway: a Minnie Mouse x LeSportsac “Kasey” purse!!!

I actually have a Kasey purse with Fifi Lapin‘s bunny print from a few years ago — I find that it’s ideal if you’re a minimalist and don’t need to cary a whole lot on your person. It’s a lot smaller than the tote I reviewed yesterday, but it’s still very functional, just as cute, annnd it can be yours! Yep, YOURS!!!

Old and new followers are more than welcome to enter, and there are quite a few entry options which all involve following Le Fancy Geek on various social media platforms. But please don’t follow and then unfollow once the giveaway is over, that’s not very nice!

a Rafflecopter giveaway

The giveaway is open to all my readers no matter where you live (except for Italy because the postage is way too expensive, sorry) and ends on September 28 @ midnight, PST. The winner will be contacted the following day.

Thank you to LeSportsac for making this giveaway possible! Good luck, ponies!

Cheers,
Nina

Minnie Mouse x LeSportsac Review

Once the last collection of LeSportsac and Disney’s  It’s A Small World collaboration debuted last year, I was hoping they’d be teaming up for more collections featuring other characters or attractions from the wonderful world of Disney — the Haunted Mansion (Dooney & Bourke did that already though, but I don’t see why they couldn’t do it too), dogs and cats of Disney (OMG, can you just picture a pattern with Lady & the Tramp and 101 Dalmatians and the Aristocats and every other awesome dog and cat character all over it?!), Disney Princesses (Snow White bags with sparkly apple charms PLEASE!), Mary Poppins (I will pass out of excitement if that ever happens), etc. So when they announced a line of Minnie Mouse bags and accessories last Fall, I was more than happy! And they’ve also gone on with a Tinkerbell collection featuring art by Disney Legend Marc Davis, and most recently just released a Monsters Inc. line with Pixar production designer Harley Jessup’s artwork. Hooray!

While I was down in SoCal for RunDisney’s 5k Family Fun Run, I got to go to the Happiest Place on Earth! I packed a little outfit inspired by Minnie which wouldn’t have been complete without LeSportsac’s  Ziptop Rollup tote! The tote is perfect for a day of park hopping at the Disneyland Resort because it’s roomy enough for all the essentials: wallet, water bottle, little snacks, and compact bag full of even more essentials (chapstick, bandaids, Aleve, lipstick, tiny spray on sunblock, etc), my bulky camera, and my Mary Poppins Funko Pop! toy with room to spare. I love using this tote for everyday use as well, and sometimes it’s perfect to take as an extra bag while shopping because it can easily be rolled up and it’s super lightweight.

The print truly captures Minnie Mouse’s essence with the bold polkadots which mirror the ones on her iconic dress and bow. Plus each dot features Minnie’s fashions throughout her 90+ years in showbiz, clearly showing off just how much of a fashion icon she truly is.

LeSportsac was kind enough to send along a little Kasey bag for me to giveaway to one of my readers as well, so be sure to look out for a giveaway post tomorrow to find out how you can win it!

Cheers,
Nina

These Are the Droids You Are Looking For

While Tim and I were at Disneyland we built our own droids at the Droid Factory which made its debut at the Star Trader store in Tomorrowland back in April!

The Droid Factory first came about at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida last year, which makes no sense to me because Star Wars creator George Lucas is from California and Disneyland, the O.G. Disney theme park, is in California, therefore we (I’m a Californian, so yes, I say “we”) should’ve gotten dibs first. Am I right? Stop taking all the cool stuff first, Disney World! It’s not fair!

Okay, I’ll stop sounding so whiny now. But I digress…

Photo courtesy of Disney Parks Blog

Let’s get onto the fun stuff!

You can pick whether you want to build a single droid or a set of two to put in your own action figure box — Tim and I opted for the set of two.

Tim and I had ridiculous amounts of fun skimming through all the different colored bodies and limbs. And the accessories! You can top your droid off with all kinds of silly headgear like mouse ears in blue, green, red, and the traditional black, a Goofy hat, cowboy/detective looking hat, a pirate hat, and a baseball cap with Yoda ears!

I was dead set on making a purple droid, but I was never satisfied with the results I kept coming up with. Tim immediately spotted a TARDIS blue body and made a TARDISy looking droid and I was so jealous! I came up with the name TR-DS at first, but then suggested TR-D5 to make it sound more droidish.I started building a TARDIS droid too, but I didn’t really want to copy Tim. And I didn’t want our double droid box set to look  monotone. Snooze. I gave up on purple and started playing with other color combinations —  I tried making a Boba Fett droid (green/red combo), but it looked too Christmas-like. I finally got around to making my Yoda droid, 40-D8. At first I was going to name him YO-D8, but decided 4O-D8 sounded more droidy, and still spells out Yoda in pager code. I’m really dating myself with that “pager code” thing. Oi.

I think building my own droid was way more fun than building my own light saber (we did that last year for our anniversary)! I’d definitely love to make another one — maybe the next time around I’ll finally figure out a way to make a purple droid I’m satisfied with. Or maybe they’ll even have more colors to choose from by then (pink! pink! *hint*hint*). 😉

What colors would you use to make your droid and what would you name it?

Cheers,
Nina
