5 Fandom Friday: My Favorite Comfort Films

5 fandom 2

I always make it a point to watch one or two Disney movies whenever I feel sick. This is a tradition that started when I had the flu my senior year of high school. Plus [most] Disney movies make me want to bawl my eyes out, which is perfect to help clear my sinuses! The Disney films I’m listing aren’t necessarily my all-time top 5 favorites, but the ones I seem to want to watch the most when I feel ill.

1. The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

25356804d6e18baa3ef3811ca56e6f2186338f23

The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh is the kind of movie I like to watch when the sky is ridden with rain, but it’s also great to watch when you’re in a sickly state too. It’s a cute, easy going movie, and Pooh Bear is my favorite!

2. Up

pixarseq2

When my nose is clogged to the point where I can’t even blow it all out into tissue, watching Up is the perfect solution! Within 10 minutes of the film, I’m already crying my eyes out and for some reason when you cry, your nose runs like it’s no one’s business. Ahh… sweet temporary relief.

3. Mary Poppins

Mary Poppins

I just want Julie Andrews to be my grandmother and feed me a spoon full of sugar after she gives me my medicine (to help it go down)(obviously), okay? Okay.

4. The Little Mermaid

Little-Mermaid-movie-07

You know that scene where King Triton and Sebastian are looking at Ariel from a distance near the end of the movie and King Triton tells Sebastian how much he’s going to miss her and proceeds to turn her back into a human? SO MANY TEARS. ALL THE TEARS. I seriously got misty eyed just typing all that. o__o

5. Hercules

hercules

This movie is rife with all kinds of mythological inaccuracies, and that kind of stuff usually really bothers me. But I LOVE Hercules! It’s just a feel-good movie, and I think part of it has to do with its soundtrack. “Zero to Hero” will forever be my jam.

What are your favorite comfort films? Lemme know in the comments section!

5 Fandom Friday: My Favorite Disneyland Snacks

5 fandom 2

I’m feeling very homesick for Disneyland. I often refer to it as my second home, because that’s really how I feel about it! This week’s 5 Fandom Friday is supposed to be about our favorite snacks to eat while we blog, but umm… I don’t really snack when I blog. Is that weird? I mean, sometimes I do, but not enough to warrant a blog post dedicated to it.

Instead, I’m going to share my 5 favorite Disneyland snacks. One of the things I love (and miss) most about Disneyland are the delicious treats they have to offer! I’m omitting a couple of my absolute favorites though, which would be Pineapple Dole Whip and Churros, just because they get enough attention from everyone else. I mean, we all know how great they are!

Anyhow, here are some of my other favorite snacks from Disneyland:

1. Deep Fried Pickles from Carnation Cafe

IMG_1054

I’m not a fan of regular ‘ol pickles, but the deep fried ones from Carnation Cafe on Main Street are soooo good!

2. Fruit tart from Jolly Holiday Cafe

IMG_1157

Jolly Holiday Cafe is my favorite place grab lunch and sweet treats. They have the selection of baked goods too, but my favorite is the fruit tart. The chocolate tart is perfection too, and it’s shaped like Mickey’s head to boot! 🙂

3. Pretzels

526114_10150901896993270_625808921_n

Honestly, anything that looks like Mickey Mouse tastes 10 times better! Now if only they’d make the cream cheese pretzels like this too…

4. Corn Dogs

 267504_10150245601088270_911599_n

I haven’t eaten anything deep fried since I completed my Whole30, and quite frankly I’m frightened to find out how my body would react to it. But corn dogs from the Disneyland Resort are deloycious! I love how they’re freshly made and not frozen garbage you can easily get at the grocery store.

5. Chocolate Mickey Mouse Cookie

60893_434629618269_2070685_n

I like to call these the “Rick Ross” cookies because the large chocolate portion resembles Rick Ross’ beard. 😀

What are your favorite Disney snacks? Let me know in the comments!

5 Fandom Friday: Characters I Would Name My Fur Babies After

5 fandom 2

Before I became a dog owner fur baby’s mama, I always fantasized about naming my future pups after public figures — a Pomeranian named Coco Chanel, a Welsh Corgi named Winston Churchill, and a French Bulldog named Jacque Cousteau. And all the names I came up with for my phantom children were all from TV shows — Chandler from Friends, Lucca from ER, and Lorelai from Gilmore Girls. However, I decided 5 years ago that I don’t want children of my own, and NO, I will not change my mind about it!

Since the original post for this week’s 5 Fandom Friday is “Characters I Would Name My Kids After,” I decided to tweak it a bit and talk about characters I would totally name my future puppies after. As you all know, I have my Rory who was named after Rory Williams from Doctor Who. 🙂

10985180_10153108427478270_8318881423540249760_n

The other name I considered for Rory was Simon, as in Simon Tam from Firefly. The name Rory ultimately won out because I was very hellbent on naming him after someone from Doctor Who, and didn’t care that my family thought the name was “ugly.”

Anyhow, here are the names of characters I would name my fur babies after:

1. Alfred Pennyworth from Batman

alfred

Don’t tell Rory, but I adore Mini Schnauzers! They’re one of my most favorite dog breeds because they look like little old men. I decided many years ago that when I do eventually get a Schnauzer baby I will name him after Bruce Wayne’s trusty butler, Alfred Pennyworth. I’ll call him Alfie for short too! 🙂

Fun Fact: Michael Caine has played both Alfred Pennyworth in the The Dark Knight trilogy and the titular role of Alfie.

2. Andy Dwyer from Parks & Recreation

andy

Andy Dwyer is basically a Yellow Labrador Retriever in human form, so Andy is quite a fitting name for a pup! I don’t necessarily want to get a Yellow Lab and name him Andy. I think the name would work for any kind of pup, as long as it had a really silly personality.

3. Burton “Chocolate Thunder” Guster from Psyche

Burton-Guster

If I were to get a Chocolate Lab, his name would be Guster, but Gus for short and I’d also call him Chocolate Thunder because DUH. Chocolate Lab. In every episode of Psyche, whenever Shaun introduces Gus he always gives him a really silly name, Chocolate Thunder being one of them. I don’t remember which episode it was, but after I watched it I told myself that one day I will get a Chocolate Lab and name it after Gus and also bestow him with the nickname “Chocolate Thunder.”

4. Joan Holloway from Mad Men

Joan Holloway -1

I’m more of a boy-dog person, and I think that’s only because I can only ever think of boy names that I like. But one day I’d love to have a fluffy daughter because seeing all the girly things at pet stores drives me mad! I like the name Joan, as in Joan Holloway (I know her last name is Harris now, but i reject it), for a girl pup. She’s my favorite character on Mad Men, and I think her name is suitable for a fluffy little lass. I’d also call her Joanie. 🙂

5. Zoe Washburne from Firefly

zoe-washburne

Zoe is another name I like for a little girl pup. And if I named my fluffy daughter Zoe, her namesake would be Zoe Washburne from Firefly, of course! Zoe is a BAMF. All the characters I listed are BAMF! So I guess it’s a rule of thumb that all my dog sons and daughters are to be named after fictional BAMFs. 🙂

Bonus Name: Oliver “Ollie” Queen from Arrow

ollie

I started watching Arrow a couple weeks ago — I’m all done with season 2, but I have no idea where to go to watch season 3. WAAAH!!! But anyhow, I love the name Oliver (Ollie for funsies) and think it’s such a good name for a dog! If I had a fur baby named Ollie, I’d dress him up in green sweaters too 😀

Do you have any fur babies named after your favorite character? Or what characters would you name your fur babies after? Tell me in the comments section!

5 Fandom Friday: Favorite Fictional Female Besties

5 fandom 2

Hey my little ponies! Today marks a very special holiday that Parks & Recreation, my favorite show EVER, has introduced to the world: Galentine’s Day! The original prompt for this week’s installment of 5 Fandom Friday was to list our favorite fictional couples that we ship. But In honor of this momentous holiday, I’m going to be listing my top 5 favorite fictional female besties instead 😀

Have you not seen Parks & Rec and don’t know what Galentine’s Day is? LE GASP. It’s on Netflix, so you have no excuse to not watch it. I don’t care if you’re a busy woman. YOU NEED TO WATCH THIS SHOW. But here’s a little snippet that explains exactly what Galentine’s Day is all aboot:

Without further ado, here are five of my favorite fictional female besties!

1. Ann Perkins & Leslie Knope

oirym7bkst9pjn5r39rr

A post inspired by Galentine’s Day would be nothing if I didn’t list Ann and Leslie as one of my favorite female bestie duos! Ann loves Leslie even though she can be overbearing and intense, but Leslie just has so much love to give and she means well, which Ann knows and that’s why their friendship works. Plus Ann knows exactly what to do when Leslie needs someone, especially when Ben fails at it. Remember when she stopped them both from getting tattoos by the skeevy pawnshop guy? YOU HAD ONE JOB, BEN!

2. Abbi Abrams & Ilana Wexler

AE17SLIDE

I love Broad City soooo much and these girls are effing fearless! Ilana constantly reminds me that I need to tell my girlfriends that they all have the ass of an angel. She’s extremely complimentary of Abbi, and Ilana even unclogged Abbi’s toilet after she took a dump during a blackout and got rid of the poop when Abbi’s crush/neighbor came over. I mean, THAT is love and a level of friendship I will probably never get to, because poop.

3. Daria Morgendorffer & Jane Lane

300px-Dariajane

Misery loves company, which is why I love Jane and Daria. It’s the basis of their whole friendship! They’re full of snark and wit, and know the true value of pizza. These two definitely set a standard for what I looked for in a friend as a youngin’. Not sure what that says about me, but there ya go.

4. Cher Horowitz & Dionne Davenport

enhanced-518-1406161271-10

Another ’90s bestie duo that I love dearly! I watched this movie when I was just a little third grader, and I thought Cher and Di were so cool. Sure, they had their shallow and stuck up moments, but they did help bring Miss Geist and Mr. Hall together, and gave the newbie Tai a total makeover with no hidden agenda. And Di never made fun of Cher for being a virgin who can’t drive. Way harsh, Tai. That’s why you’re not on the list. 😛

5. The ladies of The Golden Girls

TheGoldenGirls-cast

Watching The Golden Girls now as an adult shows me that friendships pretty much stays the same no matter how old you are. We’ll still talk about boys, things we hope to accomplish, get into silly shenanigans, and solve problems with cheesecake and ice cream. That’s why I love these ladies!

Happy Galentine’s Day!!! Who are your favorite fictional female besties?

5 Fandom Friday: My Favorite Fandom Accessories

5 fandom 2

Happy Friday, my little ponies! I’m super stoked about this week’s 5 Fandom Friday as it’s fashion related. Woo! To say it was pretty tough just trying to pick five of my favorite fandom related accessories is an understatement — I have sooo many baubles and doo-dads to choose from, so it was a ridiculous. #firstworldgeekproblems

I mean, I didn’t call my blog Le Fancy Geek for nothin’! Anyhow here are the ones I decided to feature for this post:

1. Admiral Ackbar statement necklace by Rockets & Rainbows

I don’t know why, but I just love Admiral Ackbar! Is it his name? The fact that he’s a huge piece of calamari? Or the fact that it’s so fun to say his infamous “IT’S A TRAP” line? Perhaps it’s all these things. But what I do know is that when I first saw this Admiral Ackbar necklace (made out of an old Mirco Machines toy) in Jennifer Landa‘s Etsy shop, Rockets & Rainbows, I knew I had to have it!

I also did an outfit post a couple years ago with it, you can check it out here.

2. Loki necklace by Trinket Slot

I made an immediate beeline when I spotted this Loki necklace from across the way at Trinket Slot‘s booth at Anime Expo last year! I love how it allows me to subtly show off my allegiance to Loki’s Army,  and also the fact the helmet has a heart in it.♡

If you’d like one for yourself, you can get it here.

3. Chewbacca ring

I am sooo in love with this ring! I remember seeing a post on Pinterest with a Stormtrooper, Boba Fett, and Vader ring too, but no indication as to where one could buy such epic finger trinkets. RUGH! But when I went to Portland last year, I visited a store (can’t remember what it’s called, sorry) and I saw the same exact rings!!! It took me awhile to figure out which one I should get, but ultimately decided Chewbacca was the best choice.  Plus I have a lot of Darkside swag anyway. Gotta keep balance in the Force, y’know?

4. Minnie Mouse ears

How could I not include an accessory from Disney a.k.a. my biggest fandom of all?! Mouse ears are so much fun, I wish it was acceptable to wear them everywhere besides Disney parks, conventions, Halloween, etc. Like, can’t I just come to work and be taken seriously while wearing them?

5. Hufflepuff infinity scarf

When my sister told me she was crocheting scarves for Christmas last year, I got all excited and said exclaimed, “I WANT A HUFFLE PUFF SCARF!!!” But she told me she already bought all the yarn she was going to use for everyone. Sigh. Come Christmas morning I found that she was already a step ahead of me. She even made a little one for Rory! I’m pretty sure if he put the Sorting Hat on, he’d be placed in Hufflepuff too. 🙂

What are your favorite fandom accessories? Lemme know in the comments!

5 Fandom Friday: Conventions I Wish To Attend

5 fandom 2

This week’s 5 Fandom Friday prompt is about one of my favorite things: CONVENTIONS!!! I’ve been lucky to go to a few — some big, some small, and some multiple times — such as San Diego Comic-Con International, WonderCon (but only when it was in San Francisco), Anime Expo, Stockton ConSac-Con, and BookCon. One of my favorite things about going to conventions are all the artists and small brands. I remember when the Tokidoki booth wasn’t always flooded, and you could actually just go up to Simone Legno and say, “Hey!” Gone are those days. But still, I think it’s so cool to watch these companies and artists grow more and more each year I go! 🙂

SDCC circa 2008 when I was hella into Tokidoki

There’s a plethora of different conventions going on all year, and so little time (and definitely little money) for me to get to them! But here are the top 5 I’d love to go to one day:

1. D23 Expo

This is a definitive DUH. A convention dedicated to all things Disney? YES PLEASE AND THANK YOU. No need to further explain my extreme desire to go.

2. Star Wars Celebration

See explanation for D23 Expo, but replace Disney with Star Wars.

3. Gallifrey One

A convention dedicated solely to Doctor Who! Same explanation as #2, but this time replace Disney with Doctor Who. 😉

4. New York Comic Con

I’ve heard really great things about NYCC, and a lot of the people I follow on social media always post pictures every year and it just looks like so much fun!

5. Geek Girl Con

A convention that celebrates my tribe! I don’t remember how I heard about Geek Girl Con, but I remember looking into being a vendor a couple years ago, then deemed that would be a bit much since it’s all the way in Seattle. I’d love to just go as an attendee though and be amongst all my fellow lady geeks. 🙂

Me & Nathan Fillion circa 2009

What conventions are you aching to go to? Lemme know in the comments!

cheers

5 Fandom Friday: My Favorite Things About Winter

5 fandom 2

I was born and raised in the central valley of California, and still live in the Golden State. As many people know, Californians don’t have a “real” winter season. But I do want to note that when I lived in Daly City, it was like living in a perpetual foggy haze all year round! No sun. Very fog. Such depress. Wow.

Anywho, in other parts of California we do experience “cold” weather during winter that allows us to bundle up. Sometimes there are mornings where you may find the windows of your car covered in thin sheets of ice, and scrapping them off can be a bitch. But having snow all over your car? Driving in snow?  NO THANK YOU. How do you people who experience real winter weather do it? HOW?!

We’re extremely spoiled over here, especially the Californians in SoCal!

This is basically how I felt when I was at Disneyland during the evening:

But it was stupid hot in the afternoon! Oh, California. You’re so strange.

Alright, now that I’ve established the lack of actual “real” winter weather I experience in my spot of the ‘verse, here are my 5 favorite things about the winter season:

1. Tea all day, everyday

I love myself a good cuppa. I’ll drink it even if the weather is deemed “too hot” to drink tea, but during winter it’s perfectly fine to have cups and cups of it! Lately I’ve been drinking this really yummy white pomegranate tea by a brand called Revolution. I found it at Ross for $3. Score!

2. It’s actually cold

Fall is my favorite season, but California has a hard time getting with the program. It was still stupid hot in October. I mean, 80 degree weather in October? What is that? HORRIBLE. AWFUL. UNACCEPTABLE. That’s what it is! So when winter comes, it’s absolutely lovely.

3. Bundling up in winter accessories

I prefer cold weather, and by that I mean I love overcast skies with a gentle breeze where the days are between 50-60 degrees and the nights are in the mid 40s. It’s my favorite! I’m still able to wear my tights with dresses (because eff pants), and layer on a jacket over a cardigan or sweater. Plus beanies and scarves are fun and sometimes necessary to wear. When I’m having a bad hair day, I love the fact that I can throw a cute knitted hat on and go to work. It makes life so much easier!

Winter also allows me to wear my everyday Robb Stark (Game of Thrones) cosplay (pictured above), complete with faux fur paw scarf. It has pockets lined with fleece too. 😀

4. Boots, boots, boots

This seems more like something that would be on a “My Favorite Things About Fall” list, but I LOVE boots. I’ll even try and wear my cowboy boots during the spring (bearable) and summer (terrible), but with winter it just gets colder and more appropriate to wear boots! Plus I got these G.H. Bass boots on sale at their outlet store in Livermore on New Year’s Eve and they’re made for wide calves.  If you have wide calves like me, you know the struggle is real when it comes to shopping for boots.

5. Sales all over the place!

Every store seems to have a sale because of the end of the holiday season and the New Year. I’m a self-proclaimed shopaholic, so of course this is on my list. Haha! 😛

How’s winter where you are? Are you spoiled with a California winter like me, or are you freezing your tail off in the snow? Lemme know in the comments!

cheers

5 Fandom Friday (or Tuesday): New Years Fandom Resolutions

5 fandom 2

It’s obviously not Friday, but I wasn’t able to do the last 5 Fandom Friday post since I was galavanting around Disneyland. Weeee! Since I’m stuck at home with a case of the sniffles (booo) and a noggin that won’t stop pounding (more booing!), it’s the perfect time for me to catch up. The prompt from last week was to share “fandom” resolutions for 2015. I was a little stumped on coming up with 5 different resolutions relating to the fandom world, but I managed to figure out a few!

So without further ado here are my fandom resolutions for this year:

1. Re-read the Harry Potter series/read more in general

I’ve been meaning to re-read the Harry Potter series for quite some time, and I definitely want to buckle down and get it done this year! If only I knew where the hell I put my copy of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. RUGH. I feel like I read a lot more in 2014 than I did in 2013, but at the same time I don’t think it was enough. This year I’m going to follow this reading challenge guide by Pop Sugar that my sister sent me on Pinterest. I’m going to kick things off with Steve Brezenoff’s Guy in Real Life.

2. Cosplay at a convention

1625545_10152817653078270_1573054963252989400_n

I stepped out in a femme Han Solo cosplay at SDCC last year for about, what? 3 hours? My friends Megan and Jen worked sooo hard helping me realize the design I had in my head, but when it all came together I didn’t feel completely comfortable or confidant with how I looked (it had absolutely nothing to do with the holster Megan made, or the skirt and vest Jen sewed because all those things turned out rad as hell!). My hair flattened in the humid San Diego weather and the bra I wore (the only neutral colored one I had that wouldn’t show underneath my white top) made my boobs look odd. I don’t even have a picture of me wearing the cosplay, so here’s my Mabel Pines Halloween costume! This year I’d like to revisit the femme Han Solo cosplay or maybe do a retro Snow White or Wonder Woman.

3. Go to more conventions

This might be tricky since conventions can be pricey. Sure, some may have a decent fee to buy a badge, but once you hit the floor and see all the booths with all the amazing geeky knick-knacks, all bets are off! I mean, budget? What budget? No, I’m kidding. I always tend to [barely] stick under my budget.

I have a Sunday badge for SDCC and a pass for Anime Expo (not sure how that’s going to work out travel + money wise since SDCC decided to bump their festivities a week after Anime Expo this year (Tina Belcher groan), but I’d definitely like to check out some cons that are closer to me to cut on some expenses like Big Wow ComicFest in San Jose or Wizard World in Sacramento/San Jose. I would love, love, LOVE to go to the Star Wars Celebration in April and Disney’s D23 Expo in August, but I have a feeling that’s probably not going to happen. wha- wha-whaaaa

4. Look into shows people keep telling me to watch

arrowimages10

I don’t remember what show I had just finished binge watching a year or two ago, but I remember lamenting on Twitter about how I didn’t know what to do with my life since there weren’t any new seasons of whatever to look forward to, and Amanda of Prim and Propah suggested that I watch Arrow…. which I have still not gotten around to watching. Sorry, Amanda! Fast forward to last month, my sister kept telling me I needed to watch Arrow ASAP. And apparently our cousin Nicole watches it too, so because of that they’re both telling me I have to get on it. My sister even showed me a montage of gratuitous workout scenes featuring Stephen Amell to encourage me and oh-mah-gawd… fans self.  You can watch it here if you’re curious.

I can’t think of any of the other shows that have pretty huge fandoms that have been suggested to me by friends because I feel like Arrow keeps getting shoved down my metaphorical throat. I’ll get to Arrow eventually. It’s on Netflix, so I have no excuse!

5. Get back into toy photography

8 years ago I was really into taking “artistic” pictures of my toys, particularly my Blythe doll Tigerlily — many have said she’s my little doppelgänger. 🙂

I used to be OBSESSED with Blythe dolls, but then I realized that the money I was spending on doll clothes and accessories could’ve been used to buy clothes and accessories for myself! They’re also a bitch to lug around. Anyhow, by no means did I/do I consider myself a great photographer, but I used to have so much fun taking my toys out while I went on little excursions with my family or friends despite the random weird looks I’d get as I’d shoot away. And I thought I took some pretty cool pictures if I do say so myself! I still take pictures of my toys every now and then and tend to have a couple in my purse at all times, but it’s usually just a quick thing to put on Instagram. I want to actually take the time and do photos the way I used to.

Do you have any fandom resolutions for this year? Let me know in the comments section!

cheers

5 Fandom Friday: New Years Blogging Resolutions

Screen-Shot-2014-09-25-at-7.48.24-AM

Happy Holidays my little ponies!!! If you happen to celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, or Kwanzaa (that started today, I think) I hope you had a wonderful time with the ones you love! And if you don’t celebrate, I hope you found something fun to do 😀 My family and I celebrated on Christmas Eve at my cousin’s house and on Christmas morning we all wore our Kigurumis (hella adorable onesies in case you don’t know what I’m talking about), ate waffles, opened presents, and then watched Into the Woods. 😀

I missed last week’s 5 Fandom Friday post which was to supposed to be about my favorite Christmas movies. I’ll quickly share my favorites here and then get onto this week’s theme of blogging resolutions!

  1. A Christmas Story (I mean, duh)
  2. Love, Actually
  3. Home Alone (1 & 2)
  4. The Nightmare Before Christmas (I love how this is a twofer for Halloween & Christmas!)
  5. Gremlins

Okay, so… blogging resolutions. Most of my blogging resolutions have more to do with making certain types of posts more often. Or just write more content on my blog in general I suppose.

1. Make more outfit posts

The reason why I started this blog was to record all my cute geek (and not so geeky) inspired outfits. Plus I was feeling really good about the way I looked when I first started out because I had lost like 50 lbs or something like that, and then I fell in love and gained it all back. Then I had my heart ripped out Temple of Doom style and gained mad bouts of stress acne on top of all that! So yeah… I haven’t been feeling all that great about myself lately. But I do recall how at beginning of the year I wrote about how I would probably be doing a lot of remix outfit posts because my friends came up with this wacky idea to limit the amount the money we spend on clothing and accessories — something like only spending $7 or less on an article of clothing.

And you know what? I did really well for the first two and a half months, but then Portland happened. We were like, “TREAT YO SELF TWO THOUSAND FOURTEEEEN. PORTLAND EDITION!” And then New York happened. And Los Angeles. And San Diego Comic-Con International. So I basically just said, “f*ck it.”

But um… yeah. The point is, whether it’s remixed or not, or whether I’m full of acne and feeling bloated, I want to be able to chronicle more outfits!

2. Write book and movie reviews more often

I love books. I love movies. They’re two things related to geekdom and I’ve written about books and movies I’ve read/watched in the past and how I liked or didn’t like them.

3. Come up with more topical posts

I feel like I need to write a bit more about the things I geek about on my blog such as things I collect, or toys that are coming out that I’m geeking over like crazy.

4. Write more about the geek art I love

I don’t even remember when, but I started a series called Curator’s Corner where I would talk about an artist whose work I really liked. I did about 4 posts probably, and then just stopped for no good reason. Whenever I go to conventions, Artist Alley is always my favorite part to walk around because that’s where I get to see all kinds of great art! I met Katie Cook at WonderCon ages ago and now she’s an effing rock star — there’s always a ridiculous line to get a custom piece done by her at SDCC. And she writes the official My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic comic books! I feel like I’m digressing. Anyway, the point is I want to start Curator’s Corner back up.

5. Comment on other blogs more

I try my best to write comments on other blogs, particularly with bloggers who I like to thing of as my “bloggy friends” or “bloggy homies.” But sometimes I just can’t think of anything to say, or sometimes I say a whole lot and then hit send, but then something weird happens and then my whole comment vanishes! D:

Do any of  you have resolutions you’d like to make for your blog?

Cheers,
Nina

5 Fandom Friday: Presents I Want Santa To Bring Me

Screen-Shot-2014-09-25-at-7.48.24-AM

Today’s 5 Fandom Friday post is about presents we’d love for Santa to bring us. I can think of a bevy of clothing items, books, toys, and whosits and whatsits galore that I want for Christmas, but there is really only one thing I truly, truly, TRULY want.

What I really want Santa to bring me on Christmas day is… A NEW CAR!

unnamed

Or a slightly used one that’s still fairly new. Whatever. As long as it works!

I currently drive a silver 2002 Corolla that I named Amy (full name Amy Good Corolla like that gorilla in Congo), and as good as she runs, she is falling apart. My sister originally got her when we were in high school, but she has since been passed down to me. Someone tried breaking into her a few months ago and completely jacked up the driver’s side door from the inside. My dad had it fixed, but the person didn’t do a very good job and the handle became very loose. I’d always have to be careful whenever I opened it. And then my dad broke it with his Hulk-like strength! Now I have to roll my window down and open it from the outside in order to get out. As if living in Stockton didn’t make me feel ghetto enough, this only intensified it! The CD player also decides if it wants to actually play music, or stop all together and switch to the radio. It’s so creepy when that happens!

So really, all I want for Santa to bring me is a new car! I also can’t open the trunk anymore, and I think the guy who fixed the car took out the seat belts in the back, so I can’t even have more than one passenger in my car at all times.

PLEASE, SANTA! I just want a car that looks nice in gun metal or TARDIS blue, but isn’t flashy, has good mileage, and isn’t a gas guzzler. PLEASE!!!! I like Fiats like the adorable mint green one pictured above, but a Corolla or a Camry might be more fitting.

What presents are you hoping to get from Santa this year?

Cheers,
Nina
