I’m back with another review of Loot Crate’s monthly mystery apparel subscription service Loot Wear! The month of September came with some pretty great stuff, and I was so excited to style both the wearable item and the t-shirt. The theme was “Speed” and it came with the following:
- Wearable: Transformers jersey
- Socks: Deadpool and Sonic the Hedgehog
- Loot Tees: Mario Kart
- Loot for Her: Transformers Arcee shorts
Wearable:
My only exposure to Transformers as a kid was a VHS tape my sister and I would watch every now and then that involved Dinobots. I think I was way more into the fact that there were dinosaurs since I was obsessed with The Land Before Time and Dino Riders. Sorry, Transformers! However, in college a friend of mine started calling me Ninamus Prime… I’m not really sure how that started though. – shoulder shrug – The jersey isn’t something I’d normally wear, but it’s quite awesome. When styling it, I just went with my tried and true tuck-it-into-a-flowy-skirt-with-a-chunky-belt. 🙂
Socks & Loot For Her:
By far, this has got to be my favorite sock duo to come in a subscription because both pertain to my geeky interests. Sonic the Hedgehog is the one video game I feel I didn’t completely suck at, and always entered the boss stages with determination and moxy rather than anxiety and fear because boss levels freak me out, okay? I love the “oh-no!” expression on Sonic’s face too with all the coins scattering about. It totally brings back memories of the times I accidentally messed up and grew increasingly frustrated with the game. Oh, nostalgia. But seriously, don’t let me play video games. I’m competitive and terrible, and get really angry when I don’t win. 😛
As for Deadpool… well, speed isn’t what comes to mind when I first think about him, but who cares? These Deadpool socks are f*cking sweet.
Once again, the Lady Loot subscription came with a piece of apparel. This time around it’s a pair of shorts featuring Arcee from Transformers. While they’re nice to wear around the house (I’ve worn them to bed numerous times already), I can’t help but be slightly bummed because I really miss when the Lady Loot subs came with one or two accessories. Please bring back jewelry and tote bags! And scarves. It’s getting colder (everywhere else at least), so us ladies could totally go for scarves again.
Loot Tees:
Despite the fact that I’ll never know what victory feels like when it comes to Mario Kart, this has got to be my favorite tee that Loot Wear has put out so far! It’s super comfy, and I love the design with the spiked koopa shell. I opted to go the girly route — because really, I know no other — and paired the tee with a navy floral skirt with bits of pink and baby blue. The Central Valley hasn’t quite gotten the Fall memo, hence my summery appearance. Hopefully I can throw on some black tights, boots, and a cozy cardigan into the mix to make this more appropriate for Fall soon 🙂
This month’s theme is appropriately “Horror” since it’s Halloween and all, and I’m SO EFFING EXCITED for the Loot Tee because it’s going to be Shaun of the Dead, which is probably the only zombie movie I will ever love or care about. The Lady Loot subscription will have something from Edward Scissorhands, the wearable will be from Alien, and the socks will feature designs from The Nightmare Before Christmas and The Walking Dead. There’s also a brand new Loot Wear subscription that launched not too long ago aimed specifically for the guys: Loot Undies. I’m actually kinda jealous of this because who doesn’t love a good pair of chonies? This sub comes with one pair of geek themed boxer briefs, and this month’s will be from The Walking Dead.
