5 Fandom Friday: Fictional Pets I’d Love to Adopt

5fandomfriday-1 copy

I’m pretty excited about this Friday’s prompt because it involves something I really, really, really, love: ANIMALS!!! Or to be more specific, pets. The first pet I ever had was a goldfish named Figaro that went belly-up before you could say “Jiminy Cricket.” Then there’s was bird named Cucu, but I consider Rory to be my first legit pet. I think of him more as my furry son, but that’s because I’m a crazy dog lady. So it’s no big surprise that all the fictional pets on my list are all dogs… except one. 🙂

✿ Wishbone

I loved Wishbone sooo much when I was a kid. The show combined two of my favorite things: dogs and books! Wishbone’s love of stories definitely further enhanced my love of reading as a youngin’, plus he’s cute as hell. I think that’s reason enough to want to adopt him.

✿ Dug from Up

Dug is super lovable and I’d be able to have legit conversations with him because he can talk back!

✿ Ghost from Game of Thrones

Jon Snow’s faithful dire wolf would be an ideal pet because he’s extremely loyal and would protect me from all kinds of creeps. And if my friends found themselves in grave peril, he’d come to their rescue too. 🙂

✿ K-9 from Doctor Who

I know he’s a robot, but he’s still a dog. And like Dug, he can talk. Sometimes I need someone to talk to when other human beings aren’t around, okay?

✿ Rajah from Aladdin

Princess Jasmine’s big ‘ol tiger has been one of my favorite Disney pets ever since the movie came out (which was a long ass time ago)! I actually still have the stuffed Rajah I got for Christmas back in ’93 too. Anyway, I think Rajah would be an ideal nap buddy (he’s so big and fluffy!), and help me ward off unwanted male suitors.

What fictional pets would you like to adopt? Let me know in the comments!

cheers

Geeky Fashion Finds @ SDCC

I can’t believe it’s already been 3 weeks since San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) happened! I feel like I’m still recovering from it and that it only ended a week ago. My suitcase is seriously still hanging out on my bedroom floor and I haven’t unpacked everything yet… except for my dirty clothes which I laundered, of course. <– that’d be so gross if I had a week’s worth of dirty clothes just hanging out. Eww!

Anywho, let’s talk about fun fashion-y geeky things now!

Conventions like SDCC definitely helped influence my personal style ever since I started attending in 2004. Naturally, I’m all kinds of excited to see how fashion targeted towards lady geeks (and dudes, but mostly ladies because I am one — duh!) continues to grow more and more each year!

Fashionable con attendees don’t have to wait until July to fulfill all their geeky fashion needs with stores like Hot Topic, Spencer’s, Torrid, and online retailers such as Think Geek, and the abundance of Etsy stores and indie geek clothiers online like Gold Bubble Clothing that have tons of great fandom related clothes and accessories. But that still doesn’t stop me from looking for brand new geek inspired attire and accessories at SDCC though! 🙂

Well-known geek retailers such as Her Universe and We Love Fine are always a no-brainer when looking for something super cute and nerdy. As you know from a previous post, Her Universe nearly took all my monies! Both companies had two booths this year (2 of which were located in the Star Wars pavilion). I was THIS close to picking up the Han Solo skater skirt (pictured below), but then I stopped myself since my friend already made one for me. And the R2 knitted pullover is something I regret not going home with. – le sigh

Loungefly also had a booth at the Star Wars pavilion with tons of cute coin bags, backpacks, wallets, and purses. They had two exclusive SDCC items this year, one being a sparkly Darth Vader coin bag (which seems more like a wristlet to me) and a hot pink Stormtrooper coin bag. I picked up the sparkly Darth wristlet because resistance was futile (I KNOW. Wrong Star franchise reference).

Another great geek fashion line I came across was Lace & Lore. I remember passing by their booth at Anime Expo, but I didn’t get to take a look at them until SDCC. Lace & Lore has tons of fun skater dresses and leggings that are similar to Gold Bubble Clothing and Black Milk Clothing. Some are obviously geek themed such as their pastel pink dress with 20-sided dice printed all over it (I don’t play Dungeons & Dragons, but I want it!), 8-bit hearts, and a few Naruto prints, but there’s also a few designs with kawaii Asian cuisine, donuts, and strawberry shortcake. Everything about their booth made me squeel with delight! From the novelty purses, the sweet pastel hues of their dresses, right down to the decorations of their booth — SO. FLIPPIN’. CUTE. I don’t know what else to say but that.

The one panel that I was able to go to was the Business of Geek Fashion that included Ashely Eckstein of Her Universe, Sara Scargall from We Love Fine, Ed Labay from Hot Topic, Jed Seigle ThinkGeek Solutions, and Arthur Gibree from Sanshee. It was interesting to see how many big name franchises have the licence to create tees and other apparel geared towards women, but they never did anything with it because they didn’t think there was a market for it. Like Julia Roberts said in Pretty Woman, “Big mistake. Big. HUGE!” There definitely is, and the fashions that are out in stores and online for us geeky fashionistas just keeps growing thanks to those that were on the panel. I also love the fact that Ashley Eckstein specifically stayed away from the color pink in Her Universe’s first few lines to show that us fangirls don’t always want to wear pink. I personally love the color, and Ashley said she did too, but it was very important that the color be used in limited amounts during Her Universe’s early days to stay away from the stereotype.

You can watch the full panel here thanks to the folks of Fashionably Nerdy : Geek Chic TV!

What are some of your favorite companies or stores to shop at for geek apparel that I might not have mentioned? I definitely know I wasn’t able to get everything, so lemme know in the comments section!

 cheers

Throwing Shade

Hey my little ponies! If you’ve been keeping up with the blog, you might know that I just got a job as a Fashion Contributor for Wear Your Voice Mag. AHH! For my very first article I wrote about how graphic tees are a supposed fashion faux pas for women past the age of 30, and since I’ve officially been added to the team, I’m going to start a series that focuses on all kinds of faux pas and how you can still rock them.

For my second supposed fashion faux pas I focused on oversized sunglasses. Yeah… apparently that’s a “no-no” for when I turn 30.Le fuq?! Whoever made that objection clearly hasn’t heard of Jackie O. or seen Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

You can read what I had to say about it here. 🙂

cheers

PS: Like how I snuck Groot into my picture for the article? Hehehe!

5 Fandom Friday: Fictional Vehicles I’d Love to Travel In

5fandomfriday-1 copy

It’s Friday, which means it’s time for another installment of 5 Fandom Friday! Today I’m going to be sharing what 5 fictional vehicles I’d love to travel in, so let’s get started!

✿ The TARDIS

DUH! This has got to be on everyone’s list, right?! I want to travel in the TARDIS because it can go anywhere in space and time! I’d ask the Doctor to take me back in time to see Queen and The Police in concert because how cool would it be to see Freddie Mercury, the greatest vocalist of all time, perform live?!

✿ The Batmobile

I feel like I need to be specific with what model of the Batmobile I’d prefer to travel in, because the one from the Christopher Nolan movies is just… a baby tank. I’m gonna go with the 1960s a la Adam West because it’s the first form of the Batmobile I was ever introduced to. Plus I like the bubbly windshield. 🙂

✿ The Bus (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.)

When it’s not under attack, the Bus looks like a fun place to be. And Agent May could just put it on auto-pilot and teach me how to kick ass in the Bus’ gym. I wanna be Agent May when I grow up! Is it too late for that?

✿ The Millennium Falcon

Because it’s the mother effin’ Millennium Falcon, that’s why!

✿ The back of Steve Rogers’ motorcycle

To be specific, I would like to ride on the back of Steve Roger’s motorcycle while Steve Rogers himself (Chris Evans version) is in control of the vehicle. Hehehehehe – insert heart eye emojis –

cheers

Four Things

Fellow geek and book-worm extraordinaire Kristin of Super Space Chick tagged me to do this fun post called “Four Things.”

Weee!!!

I’m tagging Mandy of A Nerdy World,Vanessa from Nessbow, Gwen from Like Gwen Stacy, Gladys from Usagi in Wonderland,  Joie from Confessions of a Book Pimp, and Cazz from Nerd Burger. If you’d like to do one, I tag you too! Please leave a link for me to check out as well if you happen to do your own “Four Things” post. 🙂

Four Places I’ve Lived:

I’ve never lived in more than four places, so here’s a bit about the two cities that I have lived in…

  • Stockton, CA – I’ve lived here my whole life, sans the two years I was away for school at SFSU. It’s located in the central valley, so the Bay Area isn’t too far away to visit for a day and the state capitol of Sacramento is only a 45 minute drive. A few notable films have been shot here too! Indiana Jones, Flubber, and Dead Man on Campus have all had a few scenes filmed at the University of the Pacific (UOP). And Harrison Ford once opened the door of a local sushi bistro for my mom and I. What he was doing in Stockton, I’ll never know. Anyway, Stockton was a nice place to grow up, but in more recent years I feel like it’s taken on more of a Gotham City vibe as far as crime is concerned. Even though the city is trying really hard to revive itself, I’m still trying to figure out how to get out of here [again]!
  • Daly City, CA – I lived in Daly City for a couple of years while I studied Creative Writing at SFSU. It’s right outside of San Francisco, and the campus was practically IN Daly City. It was always sooo cold and foggy, and I got seasonal depression real bad. First I lived with my sister and her boyfriend, and then they moved to San Diego after she finished grad school. Then my aunt’s co-worker’s daughter moved in with me, and shortly after a couple of girls I used to be good friends with moved in too. Lesson learned from that experience: do not live with your friends unless you wish to remain friends. >__<

Four Jobs I’ve Had:

936343_10151554748683270_1038798214_n
Star Wars Day at Barnes & Noble
  • Reading Tutor – This is the first job I’ve ever had, and I’m still currently there. I started back in 2008, but stopped once I transferred to SFSU. When I moved back home, I took a Children’s Lit class for fun because I was so bored from NOT finding a job, and it was taught by one of the professors I worked with at the Reading Lab. She told me that they were looking for tutors, so I looked into it and I’ve been working there ever since.
  • Bookseller at Barnes & Noble – I worked at B&N for a year and 3 months. It was my first retail job ever, and I got to meet some really cool people. I decided to quit last June so I could focus more on writing and work on bettering myself because the environment often triggered my anxiety and I’d have so many panic attacks while on the clock. Wah wah. But damn do I miss getting 30% off books and toys though. – le sigh
  • Writer – If you read my last post, you know that I was invited to start writing for Wear Your Voice Mag as a fashion writer. This is my first real writing gig. I’m going to get paid to write about fashion, shopping, and geeky things — things that I’m passionate about! You can only imagine how excited I am, right?!
  • Jewelry Maker – I run an Etsy store, and though it’s not as successful as others, I definitely consider it a job!

Four Things I Don’t Eat:

  • Feta cheese – I call it “fatal” cheese because… well, I’ll just leave it at that.
  • Chinese food – My family tends to order Chinese food a lot, and I will only eat it if there’s nothing else available. I’m just not a fan of the way it sits so heavily afterwards. Blugh.
  • Raw onions – There’s just something about raw onions that is so gross! If I’m gonna eat it, it needs to be cooked.
  • Black Licorice – Because eww.

Four of My Favorite Foods:

  • Anything with chicken and pesto – Chicken pesto in my sammich, my pasta, my calzone, I don’t care what it is, I’MMA EAT IT.
  • Dessert – Cookies, macarons, ice cream, cupcakes, Tiramisu, crème brûlée, cheesecake… GIMME GIMME GIMME!
  • Pizza – Pizza covers all the food groups and it’s deloycious! My favorite toppings are grilled chicken, tomatoes, and artichoke hearts. If you don’t like pizza, I don’t trust you.
  • Japanese food – Hooray for ramen, chicken teriyaki, tempura, and miso soup!

Four Films I’ve Watched More Than Once:

  • Scott Pilgrim vs. The World
  • That Thing You Do!
  • Beauty & the Beast (almost any Disney movie, really)
  • Zoolander

Four TV Shows I Watch:

  • Parks & Recreation
  • Mad Men
  • Agent Carter
  • Game of Thrones

Four Things I’m Looking Forward To This Year:

  • Star Wars: The Force Awakens – I know I’m not the only one who gets chills whenever they see the trailer! And “Chewie, we’re home.” ALL THE FEELS.
  • Captain America 10k – I’m both excited and worried about this because I haven’t been training properly.
  • The Good Dinosaur – A Pixar movie about dinosaurs? YASS PLEASE. Also the fact that we’re getting 2 Pixar movies in one year is ridiculous! I feel so spoiled. 😀
  • Whimsic Alley’s Geeky Crafts Fair – In December I’ll be a vendor at Whimsic Alley’s Geeky Crafts Fair!! I plan on prepping for it in October.

Four Things I Can’t Live Without:

CD5zpKGUgAAPBRQ
Reaching for Cap. That’s why Hawkeye’s frowning down upon me.
  • Spanx – I wear a pair of Spanx (or Assets, whatever the hell they’re called) whenever I wear dresses and skirts. This means I wear them every damn day! They’re a thick-thighed girl’s best friend. #NoChubRub
  • Portable phone charger – Portable phone chargers are a life saver when you’re out and about, especially at places like Disneyland or Comic-Con.
  • Chapstick – I hate the feeling of dry lips, don’t you?
  • Marvel movies – I often say that one of my main reasons for living is Marvel movies. I am not joking. My friend Caitlin has heard me say this many times. They give me so much life, you guys! SO. MUCH. LIFE.

Four Celebrity Crushes:

I noticed that in this section you’re supposed to list facts about your significant other. Seeing that I’m not attached to anyone (except for Chris Evans — we are in a super serious relationship in my Mind Palace), here are 4 of my current celebrity crushes.

  • Chris Evans (obviously)
  • Tom Hiddleston (duh)
  • Domnhall Gleeson (isn’t he a cutie pie?!)
  • Matthew Gray Gubler (love this weirdo)

Four Places I’ve Visited:

  • The Philippines – I’ve been to the Philippines twice — when I was 5 and when I was 18 going on 19 (I actually celebrated my 19th birthday while I was there). The first time I went was to go to my grandpa’s mother’s funeral (somber much?), and then the second time I went was just to go I suppose. I don’t remember. x__x
  • Europe – My aunt took my sister and I to Italy for spring break when I was in 5th grade! We went to Rome, Florence, and Venice. It was super exciting, but I really want to go back because I feel like I’d appreciate it so much more than I did back then. Also, pictures. I was not cute in 5th grade, I need to redeem myself! And when I was 16 I got to go on a tour of London, Amsterdam (with a brief stop in Brussels), and Paris with my aunt, mom, and sister. In Amsterdam, our tour group ate at a floating Chinese restaurant (random as hell), and then went on a tour of the Red Light District. It was weird.
  • New York, NY – Visiting New York has been a dream of mine ever since I was probably 5. I finally got to go last year with my sister and we had so much fun exploring New York, Manhattan, and Brooklyn! Except we totally forgot to eat New York style cheesecake and failed to grab a black and white cookie. All the more reason for us to go back. 😀
  • Portland, OR – Last year I got to go to Portland and it was the greatest city I have ever visited in all my life! The food! The people! EVERYTHING WAS SPECTACULAR.

Four Pet Peeves:

I can only pick four? Oh lord, here we go…

  • Bad grammar – I majored in Creative Writing (technically it says English on my diploma, but whatever), OF COURSE BAD GRAMMAR IS GOING TO BOTHER ME. When people don’t use the right form of then/than, there/their/they’re, whether/weather, etc, it drives me insane. Or when a lot is spelled as “alot” when it’s supposed to be two words? Ruuuugggghhh. I’m totally okay with internet lingo such as speaking like Doge or saying things like “I can haz sammich,” but overall horrible, terrible, no good grammar? NO. SO MUCH NO. NOPE. OKAY BYE.
  • Students using their phones during class – Why is your phone on the table during class? Why are you on Twitter when I’m sitting next to you looking over your annotations (this seriously happened yesterday)? Why are you texting? Why are you snapping selfies? Why are you on Snapchat? PUT YOUR DAMN PHONE AWAY. It is so hard to take students seriously when I see them fiddling with their phone. I’m so glad that I went to school before Smartphones became a thing. Don’t care if I’m dating myself here, but they’re so effing distracting!
  • When *NSYNC is spelled incorrectly – N SYNC, N’SYNC, N sync, Nsync — THESE ARE ALL WRONG. The only way you should be spelling *NSYNC is with each letter in caps with no space between N and SYNC, and with an asterisk or apostrophe at the beginning. Okay? Okay. Cool.
  • When people use the word “literally” as “figuratively” – The only time I’m ever okay with the word literally being used incorrectly is when Rob Lowe’s character on Parks & Recreation says it. Other than that, if you say things like, “Oh my god, I literally died when I found out blah blah blah” I’m going to side-eye you so hard. You didn’t LITERALLY die. If you did, that would make you a zombie since you managed to come back to life.

Four Things I Wish I Could Do:

giphy

  • Run – I want to be able to run like Captain America in the beginning of Captain America: Winter Soldier for more than 30 seconds. >_<
  • Sing – You know how in TV shows or movies, there’s a shy girl that’s like “Oh, no. I don’t sing. I’m not very good” and then she breaks out of her shell and has the voice of an angel? Yeah, that is NOT ME. When I sing along with whatever’s playing on Pandora or whatever I get super sad about my lack of talent in the singing department. I don’t even have a decent voice for karaoke, which makes me feel like I’ve failed as a Filipino!
  • Ignore writer’s block – Writer’s block is the woo000rrrrssstt. I get distracted really easily, but when I finally get in the zone, I’m in the goddamn zone! However, I don’t allow myself to focus hard enough to get any of my creative projects done.
  • Wield a light saber or some other weapon like a complete BAMF – Because not only would I look really awesome, it would also let people know that even though I wear girly things and sound like a My Little Pony when I talk (I have the girliest sounding voice, it’s ridiculous) that I am not one to be messed with. Y’know what I’m sayin’?

Four Subjects I Studied At School:

10300432_10153173876413270_3718222139327381550_n
This sums it up quite well
  • Creative Writing – I only mentioned that I majored in it how many times in this post alone?
  • Journalism – I was on my junior college’s newspaper staff for 2 semesters. It was extremely stressful and full of drama, but I somehow found a way  to have fun and also met my bestest friend in the newsroom. HI SHANICE!
  • Graphic Design – I originally wanted to major in graphic design because I wanted to come out with a t-shirt line featuring some of the cute doodles I used to draw. Then I started taking classes and realized that though it was fun, I couldn’t see myself making a career out of it.
  • Art History/Humanities – This was one of my favorite subjects because it combined history, art, and English all in one. What’s not to love?

Four Things Near Me Right Now:

  • A pillow
  • Trigger Warning by Neil Gaiman
  • My phone
  • Darth Vader cup

cheers

Reach for the Stars

For the past month I’ve been on a trial-run with Wear Your Voice Mag, an online publication based in Oakland, CA that covers beauty, sports, fashion, music, and spreads all kinds of body and sexual positivity no matter your size or gender, and I’m elated to share that last week I was formally invited to stay on as a fashion columnist!

They’re super supportive of me waving my geek flag too and have encouraged me to stay quirky with my articles. 😀 My latest one about dressing in theme at the Chabot Space & Science Center was just posted, so be sure to check it out here.

I’m starting to feel super legit about my status as an actual writer. AHHH!!!

5 Fandom Friday: My Favorite Swag from SDCC

I can’t believe it’s already been a week since Comic-Con happened! I’m still trying to recover from it. Going back to work was R O U G H, you guys. There were a few times I woke up in the morning feeling like a sack of garbage and was tempted to call in sick to sleep a bit more. But I didn’t. Thank goodness I don’t work Fridays though. WOO! So today’s theme for 5 Fandom Friday is to share some of our favorite pieces of swag we got at a convention. Since SDCC just happened, I’m sharing the best things I scored!

1. Agent Carter poster

This is the one freebie that I truly cared about obtaining, and it was bitch trying to get it. I went to the Marvel booth a few times, but they never had it when I’d go there. I asked the workers if they would be passing them out, and each time they answered with, “Yes, later today. I don’t know what time, but check back later.” UGH. I always asked very politely too (because I’m a Hufflepuff, duh), but they were quite bitchy. It’s like, okay, I understand that this is probably the millionth time you’ve been asked that question today, but if someone is being polite as hell the least you could do is try and be courteous. Am I right?

I went to the ABC booth on Sunday and my friend asked one of the workers if they had any Agent Carter posters there, and they were super nice about it and checked for us. And they did have them! So I finally got one after I did the photo booth thingy that they had at their boothw. YAY!

2. Photo booth pictures

I took A LOT of photo booth pics during SDCC. Pixster was at both the Geeks Go Glam and SherlockeDCC parties I went to, and my bloggy buddies and I had way too much fun hamming it up in front of it. And at the ABC booth they had photo booth with a random generator — characters that you could possibly take a picture with were Miss Piggy, Animal, Fozzie Bear from The Muppets or Regina from Once Upon a Time. I was freaking out because I was so worried that I’d get Regina. Although she’s one of my favorites on the show, I REALLY wanted to take a picture with a Muppet. I was beyond relieved when I got Animal. 😀

3. Pins/buttons

I got some really cool buttons and pins this year! At the Tsum Tsum booth they passed out envelopes with pins after you take a picture at either of their photo ops. There were a total of 24 pins that you could collect, but who has time to do that? I managed to get Minnie and my absolute favorite Lady. I also got some free Star Wars pins from Loungefly (only Darth Vader is pictured), a button from Sam Maggs’ book signing that says “I’m the Doctor, Not the Companion,” an exclusive AT-AT pin from Think Geek with my purchase, and an Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Secret Warriors pin. 🙂

4. Legend graphic novel by Mari Lu

My sister is a huge fan of Marie Lu’s Legend series and I decided to go to book signing with her since she’d be signing free copies of the graphic novel adaptation of Legend. I love graphic novels, especially since my attention span isn’t as great as it used to be when it comes to reading (I get SO distracted), so I’m really excited to start reading it.

5. Personalized Coke can

Over at Nerd HQ they had a machine where you can personalize your own Coke can! You could make two at a time so I wanted to make one that said Peggy Carter and Captain America… except it wouldn’t let me. RUGH. So I made one with Peggy and kind of panicked for the second one and just did my name. After I left I was like, “I COULD’VE MADE ONE THAT SAID STEVE” (for Captain America’s civilian name). Oh well. At least I now have a little Coke can with my name on it (despite the fact that I bought a Diet Coke bottle bearing my name last month).

Were you at Comic-Con this year too? Let me know what your favorite freebies were this year! And if you didn’t go, feel free to leave whatever kind of comment! 🙂

Her Universe Fashion Show @ SDCC

Last Thursday I got to go to the Her Universe Geek Fashion Show and it was so awe inspiring. It also has my bank account sweating like somethin’ fierce with all the new dresses, tops, and skirts they debuted from Studio Ghibli and Marvel!

In fact, I straight-up bought the Avengers skirt and collared top:

No joke, I tried the skirt on over the dress I was wearing at the Her Universe booth the day after the show, paid for it, and then walked away wearing it. 😀

I also have an article about the fashion show up on Wear Your Voice Mag (WYVM) that you can read here including some pictures of the two winning designs, and a couple of my favorites (a Bob’s Burgers inspired design and Groot!). But I wanted to share some other pictures I took over here on Le Fancy Geek that didn’t make it into the final article on WYVM, including some of the newer fashions that are being released and the other contestants’ designs. My pictures aren’t that great, but I did my best to document the show to share with you all!

Ashley Eckstein rockin’ the Black Widow gown designed by Andrew MacLaine.
Monster High inspired design.
Laura Cristina Ortiz in her gorgeous Jack Skellington inspired gown, complete with a Zero whose nose lights up!
Howl’s Moving Castle inspired design.
Design inspired by Rose Tyler from Doctor Who
Design inspired by Khaleesi from Game of Thrones.
Sam Skylar in her Baymax inspired design.

Aliens inspired design.
The rivalry between the Empire and the Rebels never looked so fashionable.
Avengers circle skirt and collared top.
How cute is this No Face dress?!
I got to meet my Instagram pal @AMANDAJEANNN! Here she is wearing one of the Spirited Away dresses that’ll hit Hot Topic in the Fall.

Her Universe also announced during the show that Lionsgate will be launching the Her Universe Fashion Show as a reality series on their Comic-Con International SVOD service next year! It’s going to follow the events leading up to the final runway show — how exciting is that?! 🙂

What are some of your favorite looks from the show? Let me know in the comments section!

Comic-Con Hangover

I set my alarm for 5am this morning so I could finish packing all my things for my flight back home tonight, and do a write up of the Her Universe show for Wear Your Voice Mag, but my body was like, “OH HELL NAH, GIRL. SLOW THE FUCK DOWN.” And OH HELL NAH indeed. My head felt as if Iron Man was inside the Hulk Buster suit brawling with the Hulk, and the rest of my body felt like it got the 100 hand-slap treatment by E. Honda, and topped off with a Care Bear stare.

Comic-Con, why do you hurt me so much???

10411842_391563337716712_2277503565445275667_n

Besides the physical pain I’m in, I had so much fun this year! I was extremely anxious with all the social gatherings I decided to go since I’m super introverted and socially awkward (unless I’m with people I know), but when I met Travis, Gwen, Gladys, Joie, Megan, Mia, and Liz, they were all so fantastic and welcoming. Thanks for making this year’s con so awesome! I miss you guys. 😦 #superfunfetti #staydumb

I’m still recuperating, but I’ll be putting up some posts throughout the week about my geeky adventures from SDCC, and I’ll let you all know when my Her Universe article goes up on Wear Your Voice Mag. This is just one of those hey-I’m-still-alive-I’m-totally-not-dead kind of posts. Stay tuned!

A Shiny Wish List for SDCC

Brace yourselves, COMIC-CON IS COMING.

In the past years I haven’t been a wise shopper. Just because something is “exclusive” doesn’t necessarily mean I must own it, right? I’m going to attempt to be a bit more strict on what I spend my precious monies on this time around, but there are some exclusives that have me doing the heart-eye emoji BIG TIME.

Sparkly Darth Vader coin purse by Loungefly

loungefly_glittervader

How fabulous is this sparkly Darth Vader coin purse?! I have a ton of coin purses at home, and I actually just took all my coins to the bank to cash them, buuut… I mean… this would be a practical purchase. <— it’s DARTH VADER. Of course I’m trying to justify my want for it!

Firefly necklace by Quantum Mechanix

OMG SO SHINY. I don’t think I need to explain why I want this. I mean… look at it!

  • Unmasked Captain America Pop! Figure by Funko

5730_Avenger-2_Unmasked-Captain-America_hires_large

This little unmasked version of Captain America is too cute for words! It would be perfect to put alongside the Peggy Carter figure that’s coming out later this year too. Since Barnes & Noble will have a few Funko SDCC Exclusives, I’m asking my friend Jennifer to go and take a look to see if they have this little Cap figure so I won’t have to stand in that crazy long-ass line during the convention.

Doctor Who: 11th Doctor Pop! figure by Funko

The 11th Doctor is my favorite Doctor and purple is my favorite color, so that’s a completely justifiable reason to want this adorable rendition of him, right?

Last year I was on a mad hunt for a Grey Wind plushie, except the only ones that were in the exhibit hall were all prototypes. UGH. This year Factory Entertainment has an exclusive set featuring little 6 inch versions of Grey Wind, Ghost, and Nymeria. AHH!! I just might cave, you guys. I just might. O__O

pretty much EVERYTHING at the Her Universe booth

So none of these are officially exclusive, at least not that I know of, but HOLYCRAP! Her Universe just released images of a few new items making their debut at SDCC and everything looks AMAZING!!! I’m particularly stoked for the Peter Pan collar Avengers top and Agent Carter t-shirt. I saw on Instagram that there won’t be any plus size Agent Carter tees available since they didn’t have enough shirts, but I’m hoping I’ll be able to squeeze into an XL. crosses fingers –
