Jen and I went to Japantown yesterday! I actually declined the invite at first because there were some things that I needed to do around the house. But then I had an emo moment and thought, “Damn, I should’ve just gone!” And then Jen called me again and asked if I was sure that I didn’t want to go, so I said, “Let me fix my hair.”And to let my parents know. Even though I’m well in my 20s, mid-20s even, I still have to let my parents know where I go. That’s the price you pay when you live rent-free with your family.
I damn near forgot just how cold it is in San Francisco during the summer. I remember when I lived in Daly City, I thought the constant fogginess was amazing as I hate hot weather. But towards the end of my time in the bay area, I got a bad case of seasonal depression from lack of sunshine.
Once we got there, we were greeted with misty air which was a nice change from the central valley heat. I don’t think I can deal with that kind of weather everyday ever again though.
Anyway, I grabbed a couple of silk headbands with bows at Daiso for just $1.50 each. I haven’t taken pictures of them yet, but you’ll most likely see me wearing one of them in a post in the near future. I like to think of Daiso as a Japanese Target: they have EVERYTHING — fashion accessories, stationary, housewares, cosmetics, craft goods, snacks, etc.
I also found a cupcake place inside the Kintetsu mall called Cako Bakery. The cupcakes were really pricey ($3.50 each!), but I saw that they had a Strawberry Cheesecake one and I couldn’t resist.
I even found some Doctor Who toys inside a toy store I always frequent whenever I go to J-Town (the name of it escapes me though)! The first thing I saw was this 12 inch Clockwork Man figure, from the episode “The Girl in the Fireplace” which is one of my favorite episodes. They toys were freakishly pricey though — the Sonic Screwdriver I got on Amazon for $20 was being sold for $30, and the 11th Doctor’s screwdriver was being sold for $40. I found that Amazon not too long ago for $14.99. Even though I got really excited for spotting Who merchandise, I figured I’d wait till I go to Comic Con next week to go ape shit.
All in all, it was a good day. I’ll leave you with my “seasonal depression” face. Haha!

Ugh, I want to visit San Fransisco someday. Japantown looks really cool!
When I was little I used to go to Little Tokyo all the time, in Los Angeles …
but now, they have nothing up there. It’s like a ghost town, reallly sucks.
Daiso is kinda like a TARGET & the baked good are always AMAZING!
and thanks for the advice : “nice and flat” vs. big head and heavy 😛
Uhh, I think the Ugly wins that round.

Oh my goodness, you would LOVE Japantown! They have an Ichiban Kan too, and a bunch of other cute little shops and restaurants. My favorite is the big bookstore (they sell Re-Ment, Studio Ghibli merchandise, imported books/magazines from Japan… SO MUCH STUFF!!!!!). If you ever plan on going to SF, you have to let me know so we can go on an adventure! We can bring our toys to document the fun too. 😀
PS: Pooh Bear ate too much hunny, that’s why he can’t fit in my bag. o,0
