Captain ‘murica

Well… Anime Expo/the 4th of July happened well over a month ago, but here’s an outfit post of what I wore that day anyway! Since I was at a nerdy convention on the 4th it was only appropriate that I wore my Captain America dress by Her Universe. This dress was designed by one of the winners of last year’s Her Universe Geek Fashion Show. I knew I had to get it once I saw it because 1. it’s adorable and 2. Captain America is my Avengers husband. ūüôā

I also made a pair of hair clips shaped like the wings on his helmet out of foam. It was a super last minute craft project — I made them the night before¬†I left for LA. Haha!¬†Ryan (my sister’s boyfriend) gave me the idea to make them awhile ago when I mentioned that I wanted to Disneybound as¬†Captain America for the Captain America 10k that I’m doing in November with Caitlin. That’s already 3 months away! HOLY CRAP. I really need to get my bum in gear for that. It’s been a good while since I’ve attempted to power walk/jog. Walking Rory doesn’t really count, does it? And it’s been a month since I’ve gone to my kickboxing classes.

UGH. The righteousness is NOT surging within me!

I did plan on starting up again this week, but I had a case of vertigo on Tuesday. Have you ever had vertigo? It’s the woooo00000rrrrssst! I had to call in sick to my last day of work before the Fall semester starts, and spent most of my day lying down on the couch. The room felt like it was off balance and spinning, and every time I moved my head ever so slightly it felt like I was going to topple over. ¬°No bueno! I’m feeling a lot better now though.

Knowing that not only the marathon, but my cousin’s wedding in Hawaii is just around the corner (like, NEXT MONTH), I’m trying to motivate myself to get into stealth mode. I thought about doing another Whole 30 like I did back in February, but Jennifer pointed out how doing a strict Whole 30 is going to be stressful because I’m going to have to constantly make sure that I’m preparing meals, and there’s limited options for eating super clean if I don’t have something with me at work to eat for lunch. So I’m going to just eat as paleo as I possibly can and avoid eating sweets… which has already proven to be hard because I ate a donut on Monday and a cookie the other day. After I did the¬†Whole 30 in February I was doing pretty well, but once the end of May hit, I think that’s when I started to slip back into some old eating habits. Whoops! What can I say? I LOVE dessert.

I don’t care if Steve Rogers is fictional, I gotta make my fake husband proud. But¬†more importantly, I need to make myself proud of myself! <– did that make any sense grammatically?

When I started writing this post, I thought I was going to talk about how super into Captain America I’ve been lately — I got A LOT of Cap related stuff while I was at SDCC and just got the unmasked Funko Pop! figure at Barnes & Noble that I’ve been coveting (thanks, Gwen!)¬†— but it turned into this whole thing about me wanting to get back on a healthier¬†path. I suppose¬†writing about it and posting it for others to read¬†will hold me accountable. So if you see me posting pictures of cookies or whatever on Instagram feel free to call me out!

cheers

5 Fandom Friday: Fictional Vehicles I’d Love to Travel In

5fandomfriday-1 copy

It’s Friday, which means it’s time for another installment of 5 Fandom Friday! Today I’m going to be sharing what 5 fictional vehicles I’d love to travel in, so let’s get started!

‚úŅ The TARDIS

DUH! This has got to be on everyone’s list, right?!¬†I want to travel in the TARDIS because it can go anywhere in space and time! I’d ask the Doctor to take me back in time to see Queen and The Police in concert because how cool would it be to see Freddie Mercury, the greatest vocalist of all time, perform live?!

‚úŅ The Batmobile

I feel like I need to be specific with what model of the Batmobile I’d prefer to travel in, because the one from the Christopher Nolan movies is just… a baby tank. I’m gonna go with the 1960s a la Adam West because¬†it’s the first form of the Batmobile I was ever introduced to. Plus I like the bubbly windshield. ūüôā

‚úŅ The Bus (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.)

When it’s not under attack, the Bus looks like a fun place to be. And¬†Agent May could just put it on auto-pilot and teach me how to kick ass in the Bus’ gym. I wanna be Agent May when I grow up! Is it too late for that?

‚úŅ The Millennium Falcon

Because it’s the mother effin’¬†Millennium Falcon, that’s why!

‚úŅ The back of Steve Rogers’ motorcycle¬†

To be specific, I would like to ride on the back of Steve Roger’s motorcycle while¬†Steve Rogers himself (Chris Evans version) is in control of the vehicle. Hehehehehe¬†–¬†insert heart eye emojis¬†–

cheers

Take Offs and Landings

I feel like I fell off the face of the earth as far as my blog is concerned. My bad! I’ve been working on a few new designs and products¬†for¬†Le Fancy Geek Boutique¬†(Star Wars stuff to be exact!), hence my absence. I’ve been so busy that I totally forgot to make a special post for yesterday, which happened to be Le Fancy Geek’s¬†four year anniversary! Can you believe it? It really doesn’t seem like it was that long ago that I started this little thing, but alas! To put into perspective of how old this blog is, people who were freshmen in high school when I started my blog are now¬†seniors and are getting ready to graduate very soon. O__O

Be sure to stay tuned for a giveaway to celebrate 4 years of blogging in a few days!!!

Besides planning things for Le Fancy Geek Boutique, I’ve been busy making some travel plans as well. I’m going to Hawaii in September for my cousin’s wedding, and there’s talks of visiting Disney’s Aulani resort while we’re there! And next month I’m heading to Disneyland for their 24 hour event, and I’ve also been training for the Captain America 10k in November! I guess what I’ve really been doing is just prepping for a whole lot of Disney magic. Haha! That’s really nothing new though.

Anyhow, awhile ago I blogged about how Pinup Girl Clothing teamed up with Mary Blair’s estate for a limited collection of dresses and skirts, and I got one!!! I actually got a notification about it while shooting the Snow White outfit I posted a couple weeks ago. I had to tell Caitlin, who’s been my photographer for the last two outfit posts (thanks, Caitlin!), to hold on a minute and proceeded to order the dress from my phone. The Mary Blair collection was much anticipated by many, and I didn’t want to risk having it be sold out before I got a chance to order it! Pinup Girl Clothing is pretty pricey, but their dresses are really investment pieces for your wardrobe because they are so well made, and flattering to boot! This is now my third dress from them. ūüėÄ

Yesterday was also Pinup Girl Clothing’s Pinup Parade at the Park event (think Dapper Day, but fancy pinup ladies all over the park instead). Since I couldn’t make it, I wore this dress out while grocery shopping. ūüėÄ

I hope Monday treated you well, and don’t forget to check back on Wednesday¬†Sunday for the blogaversary giveaway!

::EDIT:: Sorry for the delay in the posting the giveaway. Life happened, but things aren’t crazy anymore so the giveaway will be happening on Sunday instead. Thanks for your patience and understanding!

cheers

Everyday Cosplay: Peggy Carter

ec_agentcarter1
blouse: ModCloth // skirt: ModCloth // clutch: ModCloth
necklace: Le Fancy Geek Boutique // belt: Fossil // shoes: Bait Footwear

I adored Peggy Carter in Captain America: The First Avenger, so of course I’m completely obsessed with¬†Agent Carter! It’s so awesome that Marvel created a show focusing on such a strong, badass mamajama.¬†Are any of you fangirling over it too? Do you want to elbow¬†Agent Chad Michael Murray in the face as much as I do? Did you watch last night’s episode?!?!?! Because OMG OMG OMG.

Putting together an Everyday Cosplay for Peggy was a bit of a challenge at first because I kept flip flopping between different outfits she wore on the show and in the Captain America movie. Do I stick with her neutral military ensembles, or her sharp blue suit and red fedora number¬†from Agent Carter? I gravitated towards the simple neutral pallet of her military uniform and found some items on ModCloth, such as a the cream blouse, olive skirt, and postcard clutch, to pull the look together. The postcard clutch says “Make up for last time” — it kind of reminded me of when Steve promised her a dance as his plane was plummeting, and he obviously couldn’t keep it because… well, he turned into a popsicle. I’M SORRY I WENT THERE. :'(

I also included a Steve Rogers pendant that just got added to Le Fancy Geek Boutique! I’ve also added a Peggy Carter necklace that comes in two different color ways — one features the same cream lace background as the Steve Rogers pendant, and the other has a maroon floral background.

If you’re fangirling like somethin’ fierce¬†over Agent Carter like I am, leave a comment so we can start fangirling together!

cheers
