Wishful Wednesdays: #1

Constantly being on the interwebz for blog purposes also leads me to do some hardcore “window shopping” and I always find myself pinning things to Pinterest and Favery to take note of the items I desire most. I thought, “why not have a series of things I covet?” Thus, Wishful Wednesdays! I know, not the most clever title. This might be an every other week kind of a series. Or just when I happen to want tons of things all at once. Or something like that. Anywho, on with the stuff!

1. Kurt Halsey x Art Star Philly “Dear Friend” necklace

I have an affinity for deer and I love the art of Kurt Halsey (he just might be the next artist I feature on Curator’s Corner :)), so it’s only natural for me to pine over this necklace, right? Art Star Philly had an Instagram giveaway for two of them but I missed it! That’s what I get for being out of the loop.ย *wah wah wah*

2. 127 Flowers Dress from ModCloth

If you look in my closet, you’ll see that 90% of my dresses are floral print. This mint dress with pink and peach roses is perfect for spring and I’m contemplating on whether I should save up a few paychecks so I can get it for my cousin’s wedding next month. This is appropriate for a wedding… I think? It’s going to be in SoCal and I do believe the ceremony is going to be outdoors. Maybe it’s more of a tea party dress though. I guess that means I’m going to have to throw a tea party and that will justify my pending purchase of this dress. Yeah? Yeah. I knew you’d agree. ๐Ÿ˜‰

3. Unicorn sweater by Skip ‘N Whistle

Skip ‘N Whistle has some of the most clever duds. My family wore coordinating tacky Christmas sweaters by them during the holiday season (seen here) and we easily won the Best Dressed Family On Christmas award. I made that award up, but we won, so don’t even try to argue with me! This lightweight sweater features a vintage looking unicorn design that looks like it should be plastered on velvet and placed in an ornate gold frame. Right?! I have a penchant for the delightfully tacky. And luckily for us, this piece of art is wearable and not on velvet (I’ll wear a velvet dress, but not a sweater. The line’s gotta be drawn somewhere)!

4. Cat Eye frames from the Derek Cardigan Grammar Collection

You can’t really tell from the picture, but these glasses have a colon on one side and a semicolon on the other. HOW EFFING PERFECT IS THAT??? When I first saw the Derek Cardigan Grammar Collection I fangirled so hard and have been drooling over these glasses for months. I have a pair of wayfarers from their regular line that have mathmatical symbols, and I loathe that subject, but those glasses were too awesome, so I set my hatred for all things math aside. ย Of course seeing a pair of glasses with symbols that I give a sh!t about is ridiculously exciting! For new readers, I majored in Creative Writing. Just thought I’d throw that out there in case you’re wondering why I’m so damn passionate about colons and semicolons. : ; ; : ; ; : ; ; : : ; : ; <– semicolon and colon par-tay! Honestly though, I’m a bigger fan of the double dash when I write — that’s just my preference. BTW – coastal.com is having a sale on their designer glasses and the Grammar Collection is available there! Use the code EXTRA50 to get half off of your glasses. But HURRY, you have until April 30!

5. Thranduil v-neck shirt by Cloud & Victory

I came across Cloud & Victory after they started following me on Tumblr awhile ago. They have the wittiest t-shirts with ballerinas, and characters from The Hobbit, Downton Abbey, and Game of Thrones. Since the image is so tiny, you can’t really see all the amazingness of their Thranduil shirt. My apologies. But it has Lee Pace as the racist elf king wearing a fine pair of pink stunna shades, a lavender Birkin draped in the crook of his arm, and it says “Get In Loser, We’re Going Shopping.” The Hobbit x Mean Girls. LOVE IT! ย Which reminds me, it’s Wednesday. That means I should wear pink, otherwise I can’t sit at the table with the cool kids. D:

6. Melie Bianco “Nina” bag

Not gonna lie. My main reason for lusting over this faux ostrich Melie Bianco bag is because it’s called “Nina.” No, it’s not named after me, but for someone whose name isn’t very common and can’t be found on souvenir name keychains (what the hell, Disneyland? Y U NO have my name anymore?!), it’s a really exciting thing to see an adorable product that bears the same name as you! And it has a little bow, and as we all know bows are cool. Specifically bow ties, but whatever.

What items are you guys wishing for?

Cheers,
Nina

Things that I want for my birthday, but will probably not get

My birthday is in exactly one week! AHH!!! I know some people that aren’t really into birthdays and don’t make a big deal out of them. I, on the other hand, am the complete opposite. Shanice and I share the same philosophy about our birthdays being all about “Me, me, me!” — you have to do whatever the hell I want to do and when I want to do it! I AM THE QUEEN, GENUFLECT!ย  My mom shares the same sentiment as well — this is where my birthday obsession stems from. ๐Ÿ™‚

One thing that sucks about having a birthday a few weeks after Christmas is that everyone is broke from all the present shopping and after-Christmas sales. *sigh*

I decided to compile a list of things I wish I could unwrap from fancy wrapping paper (or take out of pretty gift bags hidden with tissue paper) on my birthday, but most likely will not since I’m sure no one will get any of the following for me…

  • Doctor Who DVDs

Specifically the complete series 6 DVD set and the David Tennant collection. I saw the latter at Best Buy for $130, which is actually a REALLY REALLY good deal because each series (or season as us yanks call them) are over $60. But I just checked Best Buy’s website and now it’s $180. WTF? Did I misread the one at the store? *confuzzled*

The 6th series was the sole thing I asked for last Christmas, but I was told that it was too expensive. :/

  • Hamm piggy bank (from Toy Story)

Why not? And it’s on sale for $12.99 at the Disney Store!

  • Disney Couture Dumbo carousel necklace

I’ve been wanting this necklace for ages. And I absolutely adore carousels. The first piece of writing I ever had published was an essay called “Hop on the Horse” in which I compared life to riding a carousel. Also, the necklace is Disney… Disney + carousel = big effing deal to me!

I’m actually debating on buying this with some money I got for Christmas. Tim and I are planning on going to Dapper Day at Disneyland next month and this dress would be PERFECT. I’ve also been searching for a burgundy pussy bow top since October and though, this is a dress, I think I prefer it better than any ‘ol shirt.

  • Looking for Alaska by John Green

I want this or any other book by John Green. I haven’t read any of his works yet, but I’ve read quotes by him on Tumblr and seen videos of him on YouTube. From what little exposure I’ve had of John Green, I have come to the conclusion that he needs to be my male bestie. FOR SERIOUS. This dude is hilarious and intelligent. Check out this video of him listing the 5 worst typos:

  • Joan Holloway v-neck shirt

Look at how sick this shirt is! I want to wear this with my black vest and silver pen necklace like the one Joan wears in Mad Men. This tee can be found on RebBubble.

  • Star Wars headphones

I am in dire need of new headphones, and I disdain earbuds. They hurt my ears. I need something nice and cushiony, and why not nerdy too? These Star Wars headphones are perfect for me! I saw the Boba Fett ones when I went to Sacramento last week and they were on sale for a really decent price. I’m kicking myself for not buying them! ๐Ÿ™

  • Kurt Halsey poster

It’s a bit ridiculous how long I’ve been wanting this poster (4 years!). It’s been on sale at Art Star Gallery for a really long time too.

Soo, yeah. That’s all the stuff I can think of at the top of my head that I’d like for me birthday. I’m pretty sure that I’ll think of other things that could’ve been on this list, but oh well!

Purple Stuff

courtesy of saucyhelp.livejournal.com

Tomorrow I’m heading back to Lowes with my dad to pick up some spackle and purple paint! I’m hella excited to paint over the dreary white walls in my Fortress of Solitude — they’re kinda icky looking since they have tons of thumbtack holes and sticky tape residue from the days my sister and I wallpapered the place with *NSYNC pinups. Haha…

I’ve been on the fence about my color choices though. I figured that the slightly darker purple shade would mostly be covered by my dresser and bookshelf, but my mom told me she thinks that it’s all a bit too My Little Pony-ish. And you know what? She was dead on…

I bought that My Little Pony a few years ago because I felt if I were a MLP, I would look like that. ๐Ÿ™‚

My mom suggested that I keep one of the purples (I like the one on the left) and then paint one wall eggplant so it won’t look so overwhelming since both shades are quite similar.

I’m hoping to find a shade of eggplant like this:

I’ve never had a crazy colored room before, so I’ve been Googling to see how others have decorated their purple rooms and I’m totally loving the antique gold frames/mustardy yellow accents in the examples pictured above. My comforter is magenta with dark purple, green, and orange accents so I’m focusing on that bit.

You know how Target has that special Missoni collection that is flying off the shelves like crazy (which I find weird since I only think a handful of the things are cute)? They have this floral shower curtain that I want to get to close off my closet since it doesn’t have a doors. I don’t know if it’s vinyl or nylon, but if it’s nylon I think it’d be perfect! The curtain I have covering my closet is kinda fug (white with a beige leaf print thing… I didn’t put it there, it all happened when I moved to Daly City!), I want to find something that fits in with the purple, magenta, green scheme. I want the Missoni comforter that’s the same print as the shower curtain, but it’s $99.99 so I’m gonna have to pass. ๐Ÿ™

I’ve been drooling over this Kurt Halsey poster for damn near 2 years! It’s on sale at Art Star Philly for cheapsies, so I think I’m gonna have to pick it up really soon. I think this would look nice over my vanity or near my bed.

So many changes are about to happen — my room’s getting a facelift and then my baby’s coming home! AHHH!!! I’m all anxious now. Thank God my professor gave everyone one “late” pass to use on any assignment. Our first big essay is coming up and I’m kinda worried that all this make-over, puppy prepping stuff might get in the way. o___0
