Nerdvember: Week Three

I nearly didn’t make it all 7 days for week three of Set To Stunning’s Nerdvember challenge/contest, but somehow I managed! Well… day 19 hardly counts, but whatever. I still wore something geeky and documented it. ūüėõ And you’ll notice I wore something Star Wars inspired for all but one day during week three!

Day 14: Darkside/Hoth

I got picked up from my Airbnb in Anaheim by my aunt, and just hung out at her place. This was the day before Season of the Force kicked off at Disneyland, so I packed my Utinni Bikini Hoth AT-AT dress because I needed something to mark the occasion! Oddly enough, that day was extremely cold. Not like Hoth cold, but cold enough to make me bust out with my parody of Nelly’s “Hot in Herre” — mine goes: it’s gettin’ Hoth in hurr (so Hoth!) / so put on some more clothes / I am gettin’ so cold / I’m gonna slice a tauntaun. ūüėÄ I also paired my outfit with tons of Darkside accessories, including the Princess Leia Alex & Ani bracelet I picked up at the park and the Darth Vader brooch I made.

Day 15: First Order

I planned on wearing my First Order dress by Utinni Bikini weeks in advance for Season of the Force. Darkside swag, all day, err’day. Or, maybe not everyday, but MOST days. ūüėÄ

Day 17: Darth Vader

This day felt sooo long! I flew from San Diego to Sacramento and my dad picked me up to head home to Stockton. By the time I got home, I didn’t want to do a damn thing. But I did wear my favorite Vader pullover all day.

Day 18: R2-D2

I’ve been obsessing over this dress ever since I caught a glance of it on Her Universe’s Instagram page about a month ago. It’s too cute!! It’s only available at Disneyland, so I made it a point to track it down ASAP when I went to the park. I wore this for Wookiee Wednesday and when my friend Brianna passed by me she stopped and said, “Oh my God, I bought that dress at Disneyland too and I almost wore it today!” She even has the same cardigan as me, so we’re gonna plan a day to be super twins!

Day 19: Lazy Star Wars Pajama Day

I woke up with a headache, a sore throat, and a stuffy nose, so I called in sick and stayed home in my Star Wars jammies all day long.

Day 20: Firefly/Serenity

This was a more subtle geeky look since the only geeky thing I’m wearing is my Firefly necklace, by Quantum Mechanix and I also added my Serenity keychain on a purse, also by Quantum Mechanix. Shiny!

Day 21: Star Wars Baddies

This skirt is also by Her Universe and exclusive to Disney parks. It was also an impulse buy because I had no plans to buy it. I just wanted to get an R2 tank at Star Trader and then this skirt just lured me in! It’s really cool, because from afar it looks like a jungle print, but when you give it a closer look, it has silouhettes of Darth Vader, AT-ATs, Tie Fighters, Interceptors, Boba Fett, Jabba the Hutt, etc.

I can’t believe Nerdvember is almost over! So far it’s showed me that I have way more geeky clothes in my closet than I thought I did. ūüôā

cheers

5 Fandom Friday: My Favorite Things About Winter

5 fandom 2

I was born and raised in the central valley of California, and still live¬†in the Golden¬†State. As many people know, Californians¬†don’t have a “real” winter season. But I do want to note that when I lived in Daly City, it was like living in a perpetual foggy haze all year round!¬†No sun. Very¬†fog. Such depress. Wow.

Anywho, in other parts of California we¬†do experience “cold” weather during winter that allows us to bundle up. Sometimes there are mornings where you may¬†find the windows of your car covered in thin sheets of ice, and scrapping them off can be a bitch. But having snow all over your car? Driving in snow? ¬†NO THANK YOU. How do you people who experience real winter weather do it? HOW?!

We’re extremely spoiled over here, especially the Californians in SoCal!

This is basically how I felt when I was at Disneyland during the evening:

But it was stupid hot in the afternoon! Oh, California. You’re so strange.

Alright, now that I’ve established the lack of actual “real” winter weather I experience in my spot of the ‘verse, here are my 5 favorite things about the winter season:

1. Tea all day, everyday

I love myself a good¬†cuppa. I’ll drink it even if the weather is deemed “too hot” to drink tea, but during winter it’s perfectly fine to have cups and cups of it!¬†Lately I’ve been drinking this really yummy white pomegranate¬†tea by a brand called Revolution. I found it at Ross for $3. Score!

2.¬†It’s actually cold

Fall is my favorite season, but California has a hard time getting with the program. It was still stupid hot in October. I mean, 80 degree weather in October? What is that? HORRIBLE. AWFUL. UNACCEPTABLE. That’s what it is! So when winter comes, it’s absolutely lovely.

3. Bundling up in winter accessories

I prefer cold weather, and by that I mean I love overcast skies with a gentle breeze where the days are between¬†50-60 degrees and the nights are in the mid 40s. It’s my favorite! I’m still able to wear my tights with dresses (because eff¬†pants), and layer on a jacket over a cardigan or¬†sweater.¬†Plus beanies and scarves are fun and sometimes necessary to wear. When I’m having a bad hair day, I love the fact that I can throw a cute knitted hat on and go to work. It makes life so much easier!

Winter also allows me to wear my everyday Robb Stark (Game of Thrones) cosplay (pictured above), complete with faux fur paw scarf. It has pockets lined with fleece too. ūüėÄ

4. Boots, boots, boots

This seems more like something that would be on a “My Favorite Things About Fall” list, but I LOVE boots.¬†I’ll even try and wear my cowboy boots during the spring (bearable) and summer (terrible), but with winter it just gets colder and more appropriate to wear boots! Plus I got these G.H. Bass boots on sale at their outlet store in Livermore on New Year’s Eve and they’re made for wide calves. ¬†If you have wide calves like me, you know¬†the struggle is real when it comes to shopping for boots.

5. Sales all over the place!

Every store seems to have a sale because of the end of the holiday season and the New Year. I’m a self-proclaimed shopaholic, so of course this is on my list. Haha! ūüėõ

How’s winter where you are? Are you spoiled with a California winter like me, or are you freezing your tail off in the snow? Lemme know in the comments!

cheers
