I’m Up All Night to Get Loki

Who else celebrated Galentine’s Day last weekend?! I had so much fun celebrating it with three of my fave lady friends: Jen, Shanice, and Caitlin. It consisted of a bunch of waffles, a bit of Domhnall Gleeson (About Time was on the telly), milk tea with Boba, and Deadpool! Jen and I went¬†to Grape City Con in Lodi first since my uncle gave me two tickets. I wasn’t really expecting much out of it, but it was a lot bigger than I thought it would be. I ended up leaving with a little portrait of Chewbacca and a Padme action figure that would totally make a perfect wedding cake topper if I pair it with my Darth Vader action figure. I mean… not that I’m planning on using it for that purpose, but who knows? It just might come in handy one day. ūüėõ

While we were there, Jen got me a cute Loki inspired bow made out of perler beards (pictured below) and a Deadpool one for herself since they matched our outfits perfectly. The vendor who made them didn’t have a business card, nor was their business’ name anywhere in sight at their booth, so¬†I have no idea who to give credit to and it’s driving me mad. Soooo, if you happened to be at Grape City Con and you know who made all the geeky perler bead hair accessories, let a girl know! Waffles, a bit ‘o Domhnall, Shanice, milk tea with boba, and Deadpool all happened after the con. The Deadpool movie was so much f*cking fun, you guys! I have a crude sense of humor, so I quite enjoyed it. Now I feel even more compelled to pick up some Deadpool comics!

Can I talk about this dress I wore for Galentine’s Day for a sec? Oh, duh. Of course I can. It’s my damn blog! It’s¬†from LulaRoe, which is a company my sister has been √ľber obsessed¬†with. She has so many of their leggings, I don’t even know how many pairs she has, but she got me a pair for Galentine’s Day and they feel like buttah when I wear them. She introduced LuLaRoe¬†to me a few months ago¬†since one of her co-workers is a fashion consultant for them and thought I might like the dresses they have. And she was right! They don’t have an online shop on their website like most clothing companies do. Instead, people can contact them to become fashion consultants and through that, they are sent merch to sell via online pop up shops. My sister’s co-worker sells things through a private Facebook group. I believe that’s how most consultants sell stuff. So think Avon, but for clothes (I guess?). This particular dress was part of their holiday collection and I remember drooling over it because it’s perfect for a Loki inspired outfit! I bought it earlier this month when I saw that it was still available and planned to¬†wear it for Galentine’s Day. I paired it with the Loki necklace I got at Anime Expo as a subtle nod, but when I saw Shanice she was like, “I love your dress, it’s very Slytherin!” After giving her a dirty look and saying it’s for Loki, she said it could also work for Legend of Zelda. I think it’d be good for an Emerald City inspired ensemble too.

If you watched Deadpool or can think of any other geeky thing I can base an outfit around for this green and gold dress, lemme know in the comments section!

5 Fandom Friday: Favorite Fictional Female Besties

5 fandom 2

Hey my little ponies! Today marks a very special holiday that Parks & Recreation, my favorite show EVER, has introduced to the world: Galentine’s Day! The original prompt for this week’s installment of 5 Fandom Friday was to¬†list our favorite fictional couples that we ship. But In honor of this momentous holiday, I’m going to be listing my top 5 favorite fictional female besties instead ūüėÄ

Have you not seen Parks & Rec and don’t know what Galentine’s Day is? LE GASP. It’s on Netflix, so you have no excuse to not watch it. I don’t care if you’re a busy woman. YOU NEED TO WATCH THIS SHOW. But here’s a little snippet that explains exactly what Galentine’s Day is all aboot:

Without further ado, here are five of my favorite fictional female besties!

1. Ann Perkins & Leslie Knope

A post inspired by Galentine’s Day would be nothing if I didn’t list Ann and Leslie as one of my favorite female bestie duos! Ann loves Leslie even though she can be overbearing and intense, but Leslie just has so much love to give and she means well, which Ann knows and that’s why their friendship works. Plus Ann knows exactly what to do when Leslie needs someone, especially when Ben fails at it. Remember when she stopped them both from getting tattoos by the skeevy pawnshop guy? YOU HAD ONE JOB, BEN!

2. Abbi Abrams & Ilana Wexler

AE17SLIDE

I love Broad City soooo much and these girls are effing fearless! Ilana constantly reminds me that I need to tell my girlfriends that they all have the ass of an angel. She’s extremely complimentary of Abbi, and Ilana¬†even unclogged Abbi’s¬†toilet after she took a dump during a blackout and got rid of the poop when Abbi’s crush/neighbor came over. I mean, THAT is love and a level of friendship I will probably never get to, because poop.

3. Daria Morgendorffer & Jane Lane

Misery loves company, which is why I love Jane and Daria. It’s the basis of their whole friendship! They’re full of snark and wit, and know the true value of pizza. These two definitely set a standard for what I looked for in a friend as a youngin’. Not sure what that says about me, but there ya go.

4. Cher Horowitz & Dionne Davenport

Another ’90s bestie duo that I love dearly! I watched this movie when I was just a little third grader, and I thought Cher and Di were so cool. Sure, they had their shallow and stuck up moments, but they did help bring Miss Geist and Mr. Hall together, and gave the newbie Tai a total makeover with no hidden agenda. And Di never made fun of Cher for being a virgin who can’t drive.¬†Way harsh, Tai. That’s why you’re not on the list. ūüėõ

5. The ladies of The Golden Girls

TheGoldenGirls-cast

Watching The Golden Girls now as an adult shows me that friendships pretty much stays the same no matter how old you are. We’ll¬†still talk about boys, things we hope to accomplish, get into silly shenanigans, and solve problems with cheesecake and ice cream. That’s why I love these ladies!

Happy Galentine’s Day!!! Who are your favorite fictional female besties?

cheers
